NationStates General is not the place for "help" or "advice" on going off to college and/or living with homosexuals, or any topic for that matter.

Legitimate query: How do straight men feel about living with gay men? How do gay men feel about living with straight men? What is the general opinion of gay men in general? Perhaps the uni should have a policy that only rooms together people of the same sexual orientation?

Not a blog.

Seems okay to me.

Uh, if a mod has already delivered a ruling that a thread is okay (for now), should the reporter really take it into his own hands and declare the thread inappropriate for the forum as a whole?

I mean really, spamming a thread (I know that I have absolutely no room to talk) when you feel it has no relevance (..again..), but then after a mod has given it (at least a temporary) clear to go on, they go on back to the thread and continue to post off-topic, irrelevant, and rude comments about how it has no reason to be in NSG (when it absolutely does, seeing as we've been able to help each other in situations where we really needed help (Where do you think I turned when I needed help when a close friend died?)).

I'm sure SB is more respectable than I am in this forum, but I think he is the one that needs to understand that he is completely out-of-place in this situation.

At this point, it's pure ignorance on his point.

O.o

Please check posting times next time you decide to report something. I posted that it wasn't meant to be there in the thread. I then reported it here. Hack said it was ok. Works for me. Didn't work for others. They decided to continue, so I obliged.

That being said, I also have contributed to the thread on-topic multiple times, including the second and third posts you linked to, as well as: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13754779&postcount=72 parts of this one, and I joined in the silly banter of others here: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13754845&postcount=81 .

I don't see what the big deal is. Perhaps it's ignorance *shrugs* Perhaps that's because there is no big deal. The situation's already been brought up, addressed, and dealt with. The real "threat" to that thread is the continuation of off-topic posts directed at me that bait me to reply. One of those "as soon as people stop being rude to me I'll stop addressing it" situations.

Post 40 was a simple response to Zilam's off-topic response. Neither was a mod-worthy diversion.

Posts 41 and 44 were on topic. Whether you agreed with his opinions or not, they were discussing the thread topic, and therefore don't require moderation.

As to the original complaint, (... I can't believe I'm saying this ...) RhynoD was correct. The typical blog post was "Look at my new car" or "here's what I did on my summer vacation". Seeking guidance on social policies that are very much newsworthy (and all to frequently political) has pretty much always been welcome here.
