There seem to have been a bunch of copycat spamy polls - "Part 1", "Part 2", etc. - in NSG of late. Can we please put the cabash on them?

Thank you!

To be fair, parts 1, 2, and 4 are all by the same poster and have thriving discussions that are actually on topic. Parts 3, 5, and 7somethingoranother are the copycats.

Copycat threads: When somebody creates a popular thread, copycats and parodies quickly flood the forums. Like any other fad, a few can be fun, but once everyone starts to copycat them it becomes overbearing and spammish. Such threads may be locked or moved to Spam by any moderator who considers that thread to be a copycat or spam thread. Threads with genuine content may be left alone, but that probability increases dramatically when you don't use a fad title.

Can the mods please apply their rules to this crap.

Again though, this is the original poster carrying on what amounts to a multi-part thread.

The idea of a multi-part thread is royally ridiculous. We're expected to believe that in a forum about politics we can only have ONE thread on McCain vs. Obama but we can have 7 threads on "your massive and valiant space fleet, complete with the supreme commander, his/her loyal sidekick, the flagship, Your fighter squadrons, your motive for the war, and the attackers?"

Who says the forum is about politics? I seem to distinctly recall the words "Anything and everything" being used to describe General...

Well, one, the idea for ONE McCain vs Obama thread is because otherwise we would have dozens all about the same topic and all posted by different users. And two, as pointed out, General is for everything and anything else.

It's hard to say this is a copycat thread because it's the original poster who is carrying on his conversation, not a number of people posting different ones.

That, and the subject pretty much requires multiple polls. If you could convince the nice people at Jolt to let you have nine polls on one thread, I'm sure he'd be happy to condense it.

There may only be ONE thread on McCain vs. Obama, but there were SEVERAL threads on the US elections before it was only McCain vs. Obama, and there are still SEVERAL threads on different parts of American politics.

When I get a minute I'll sticky the threads on polls and on issues, then there'll be three US election threads.

This is not a comment on the original complaint [/threadjack].
