Why was it deleted?

I made a thread recently on the election and it was deleted. The only reason given was Samuel L. Jackson. Did I do something wrong I don't know about? Are political threads now not allowed?

Until the nomination is over, there's only 3 threads allowed, nomination, issues and one other that I forget.
Your VP threads will likely be deleted as well when Ardchoille arrives.
It's just the way it is, something's will never change...
dooby doo, dooby doo, dooby doo.

Considering this a mainly political board, to not discuss the presidential race, when this generally one of the freer boards around just seems rather odd.

You can, you just have to do it in the 3 designated threads for now - the idea was to stop US election threads crowding the front page and knocking off more enlightening subjects such as 'why Americans are all stupid' and 'what's your favourite tank'.

thanks, that makes more sense. I don't why he couldn't have just put "not designated thread" or something for the reason. The Samuel L Jackson comment just left me confused.

The prediction about the other two threads was spot on -- and don't blame Barringtonia, I noticed them while I was at work and filed 'em away for annihilation later. Soviestan, you're welcome to repeat your queries in the issues (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=554116) thread.
The Issues thread hasn't had a new post in almost a week.
The Number Crunching thread hasn't had a new post in over two weeks.
The Obama/Clinton thread has become a 1000 post abyss, dominated by a select few people on either side of the debate, that attracts few new viewpoints from other posters.
Meanwhile the Obama VP thread, a specific topic which got 25 responses in barely 4 hours from a slew of people who aren't contributing in the aforementioned threads, gets locked. Several other threads which have generated interest have also been locked or merged with the Three threads.
I understand that the current set up is being utilized to prevent too many US Election threads from cluttering up the front page...but most forums try to encourage discussion, while the current system here seems to be doing exactly the opposite.
Just a small point I wanted to make...I'll shut up now.
*wanders off*

If the posters who went to Soviestans's various threads had gone to the issues thread, as they were supposed to, it would have had new posts, wouldn't it? Even if one-third of them were spam, as was the case with the Obama VP thread.
The nomination thread is pruned about every 500 posts. Currently it's up to 580-odd, and ripe for another cut. Get in early and you'll have a fresh canvas.
The mega-thread was started after requests to keep all the election stuff together. Now there are requests to keep various election themes apart. Whatever.
The mods are trying to keep the forums open to all comers, including US electionistas. There'll be some threads stickied when the race clarifies.
