What can someone do to reply a message made in the wrong forum

A question for the moderators.

I posted an in-character thread in the "international incidents" forum, that was later moved to the "gameplay" forum, regarding the liberation of the NS region Israel after a long fought "battle" (I don't know why it was moved, but that's another matter).

Anyway, a guy replied with what I consider to be, with all due respect, an extremely ill-informed claim about RL Israel.

Now, a moderator made the right remark to him (my thanks for that), but still did not erase his message. I asked the moderator to erase it or I would reply the wrong claim, and got a humorous but serious warning from the moderator, that posting a reply in the wrong forum "would not be wise".

Now, first of all I'd like to apologize if what I wrote there sounded like an ultimatum. It was not intended that way and it's my bad if it sounded like that. Sorry. I'm not a native speaker of English and wan't wise enough to express my real intent. Sorry again.

But really: what can be fairly expected from me? Should I really leave the message without a response just because who made the claim i consider to be false, made it in the wrong forum? Starting a new thread in the "general" forum would just advertise the false claim.

Two Mods have post why it's in Gameplay as NS Israel is a Region and Region staff goes into Gameplay

I'm not a mod, but you're probably better off ignoring it. Debates about RL Israel tend to turn into flamefests anyway. BTW, congrats for freeing your region.

Okay, let's go through this bit by bit.

Why your thread was moved to Gameplay: It was a thread about something that had happened in the game. You had defeated raiders in your region. Regions and raiders are "real" to the game mechanism.

But you posted your success in International Incidents. That's a forum devoted to roleplay. Roleplay is about things that people pretend have happened to their nations. They're not real to the game. So the thread was was moved to the forum about "game-real" things.

Why you and others were allowed to continue discussing real-world Israel and other RW nations for a while in the wrong forum: Because moderators can't be everywhere. Once we were notified, it was stopped.

Why I didn't remove the post to which you object: Because if moderators began removing posts that other posters considered wrong, there would be very few posts in most of the forums. (You'll note I didn't remove yours (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13694870&postcount=6), which was considered wrong by another poster.)

From time to time, you will see people being told to "grow a skin". This is a political discussion website, and posters must learn to accept that not everyone agrees exactly with their political views. This does not prevent you or them from expressing those views. The only restriction is that you do so in the forum provided for it.

Why I locked the thread: Because it was evident, from your previous posts, that you had a view on something another poster had said. You had said that, if the post to which you objected was not removed, you would continue discussing it there. That would have put you in breach of the rules of the site. I decided that it was better to prevent a problem than to deal with the aftermath.

What you can do now:
You can, as I suggested, start a thread in General. It would undoubtedly attract other people who disagree with your views. It would also, as you pointed out, give the assertion more publicity. If you could not endure this, it would be better not to take the risk, but it's your choice.

You can accept that some posters will never agree with you; that you have already put your views; that occasionally you just have to drop it.

I have tried to put this as clearly as possible, and it's plain from your posts that your English skills are superb, so I hope you get my points. If it remains unclear, please post again.

Thank you for your kind explanation.
