NationStates Jolt Archive

I was surfing NationStates, and I came upon a region entitled Invader Army, and in their Wold Factbook Entry there was the name of a nation, Invader Army 01, and the password to said nation was posted in the WFE as well. I logged into this nation using the publically posted PW and changed the password on it.

My understanding was that this was not illegal, since the password was posted for all to see in NationStates. I would like an official ruling on this matter please.

No you can't. You gave away the password, and anyone with that password 'owns' the nation. If they want to change the password, email address, custom fields, etc ... or use it to invade you, they can.

Also, sharing nations is and always has been a chancy business, as new owner will get 'infected' by any previous negative history carried over from prior owners. Don't share nations any more than you would share a toothbrush. Heck, at least you can *wash* a toothbrush in bleach. Infection is permanent.

You relinquished all rights to that nation when you posted the password. Don't come to us with complaints.
