Hiya!
Could you let me know if I'd be able to put up a link to my essay in the General forum? I've got a thread, but I don't want to put up the direct link to .pdf yet in case I violate forum rules and get hit with the ban-stick :)

I'm not looking for help with the content, just with checking grammar and sentence structure, and so forth.
Cheers!

It sounds to me like you're asking for homework help.

It's not homework, it's a University essay. Which is already fully written, referenced, and cited. I just want someone to check it for punctuation, grammar, and so forth. They probably won't know the subject matter anyway, as it is relatively specific, so wouldn't be able to help with the content.

Essay/Dissertation is effectively homework for the grownups among us who attend University.
You do know you can pay people to proof read stuff don't you?
Rules are rules, so I'm assuming that posting it here is a no-no

Yes, but as a student I don't particularly want to pay someone when that money can be better spent (i.e. beer)
Honestly, lol, it might just be easier to email a lecturer in the department and get them to check it for me; then I'll also get the added benefit of feedback.
I will still await a Mod's decision though.

Sorry, but it seems to me that homework is still homework, even if it's for grown-ups. So a "please proofread my paper" thread is out.
There's nothing preventing interested people from contacting you, though, and I've never noticed any shortage of dedicated pedants on NS.

There is the spam forum. Since it's Jolt and not considered a NationStates forum like General, Moderation or II, you might be able to get away with it there.

A lot of "spammy" threads are moved there, and the Mods, to my knowledge, don't check it (this is NOT a licence to post Goatse!) and probably won't look at homework help.
About spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc., a good word processing programme can spell check and point out common grammar and punctuation flaws.

They give out licences? O.o

No. I just didn't want to be blamed if 50 people started spamming the spam forum with shock pics.
