NEW! Nation Restoration Self-Service

Frisbeeteria

With the game update comes a feature that makes nation restoration incredibly simple. To restore the (arbitrarily chosen) dead nation of Banana, simply enter the nation name in the login box (http://www.nationstates.net/page=login) and click Login. You'll see this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/frisbeeteria/Self-rezz.png (http://www.nationstates.net/page=login)

Enter the password, and you're restored! Can't get any easier than that.

If you've recently placed a nation restoration request, we're probably just going to send you a link to this thread and let you do the work. If you placed that request anonymously, we MAY get around to it. In the meantime, please do all your restorations yourself. It's instant gratification, NationStates style!

----------------
There is one legitimate reason for asking for Mod Help on a restoration. If you don't remember the password but DO know - and have access to - the registered email address, we can restore the nation and you can then use the Lost Password (http://69.60.14.82/page=forgot_password) link. Note that if you don't know the password and you didn't set an email or can't access your old email address, that nation is a writeoff. We can't give it back to you under any circumstances. Sorry.

Nations which were deleted by moderators are not eligible for either self-service or moderator assisted restoration.

I have restored one of my dead nations. Corporate State a Free Market Paradise. Lost under the NS Nation ocean floor in the Great NS Nation flood. At which time I lost many nations due to an NS storm. The Mod Gods would not restore all my lost nations.

I can now officially have all my 60 some NS Nations back. I kinda lost count on a few of them after the great NS Nation flood.

This is awesome.

Probably my favorite addition in the new upgrades (with the "Reports" feature coming close behind). Now I can keep track of my puppets, even if they expire, without having to annoy the mods. ;)

Yes, some people have so abused the restoration request they've been told we won't keep returning their nations since they apparently have no interest in or ability to keep so many puppets alive without moderator intervention.

And then there's the people who used to have hundreds... (not me though, I think I topped at just 70-80 or so). And no, I'm not gonna restore them unless I need 'm for something. Always good to be able to pull a nation from Lazarus with a few billion population on in, if need be.

And thank you for the new feature!

I lost track after 9... I don't see why anyone who actually RP's in Gameplay, or II would need more than 2 or 3 tops. I only have 3 myself for economy purposes due to my 3 factions.

The largest number of maintained puppets I've ever run across was 1016 by a single player. Included in this number were hundreds of region founders. This player "owned" more real estate than anyone else in the game.

There were quite a number of post-Influence "puppet flooders" who were convinced that spamming 200-500 nations into a region would somehow dilute the influence of the other nations in the region. Despite providing proof via the published effects of Influence (http://www.nationstates.net/page=influence) (which tell you EVERYTHING about Influence except the actual forumulas), these idiots kept making nations until their eyes bled. Pointless.

Suffice to say, people who want to have multiple nations may have reasons that are (or at least seem) valid to those players.

My God, some people need to get a life. I mean unless...no...well maybe...hmmm...you'd have to be pretty committed to make those kind of numbers of nations.

Sepuku
02-04-2008, 19:38
I love the new feature. I hadn't been on NS in years and my reason for not returning was that I couldn't bear the thought of trying to make another nation after this one had expired (I'm not a big forum guy so I didn't know mods to could restore nations).

However, when I revived my glorious abomination Sepuku, I got the slap in the face of finding that I had been ripped off in my absence. The region I had created for myself "Too Much Time on My Hands" had been recreated by an imposter, and it instantly booted me to Lazarus because he password protected the region. The bigger slap was the nation that did this is called "Sep-puku", and he/she ripped off my flag, my custom nation title "The Ritualistic Realm", my motto "Go spork urself..." (I have since fixed the spelling after reviving my nation), and both my currency and national animal.

I know the saying goes that imitation is the best form of flattery or something like that, but this is practically identity theft! I would like to seek whatever form of injunctive relief is available from the mods. I don't care that his login is "Sep-puku", but everything else goes far past coincidence.

*Edit* I found the complaint form, so hopefully this will be taken care of, but I figured it's still an interesting situation worth posting.

I got my, once forgotten, nation back by coincidentally typing in the correct password. One of the best parts was reading old mail from 1000s of days ago from nations that have long been deceased. This is awesome and I'd really like to thank the Mods and the powers that be for this.

Thanks guys!!

I have a nation (Christmahanikwanzikah) that was recently restored under the new self-service provided. It was not moderator-deleted, only banned due to inactivity.

However, since restoring this nation, I have been unable to post with this nation because I haven't been reapproved by a moderator, or something of that sort. I've read for an answer elsewhere here, and finding none, it seems prudent for me to ask how I can again post with this nation.

I have been unable to post with this nation because I haven't been reapproved by a moderator,

No, you were forumbanned due to a technical issue we're still trying to troubleshoot. In your case, our forum tools allowed me to unban you.

If others are having this sort of issue, file a Getting Help request. Link is in my sig.

I didn't want to start a new thread about it or put in another post on the "Getting Help" page, so chose to post here.

I just want whoever unbanned by nation for inactivity to know that I appreciated the particularly quick resolution to the problem. Thanks!

A nation that CTEs and is resurrected has the same basic flag the game gives all new nations, I'm pretty sure.

That's only if it previously had a 'custom' flag: if it was previously using any of the ones from the basic list then it still has its old flag attached...

I believe that has changed. Because of space issues, we used to strip custom flags at nation death, but I'm pretty sure we now keep both standard and custom flag choices intact. I know that when we delete a nation for posting a porn flag, we can still see the offending image ... not that we would do such a thing for our own amusement, of course.

If that has changed then it's only done so during the last week, because I restored one of my own nations that recently and it came back with the 'default' flag rather than its former 'custom' one...

Please note that the relevant date is "date of death", not "date of restoration". We stripped the flags when the nation died to save space, so it only matters when it ceased to exist.

I think the change happened several months ago. One of the admins might be able to confirm it, though it's probably not worth bothering anyone about.

The nation in question had only CTEd three days before I revived it, so that was still less than a fortnight ago...
