Oh great and glorious mods, as the thread's originator, may I politely ask for this thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=550452)to be closed.
The thread has long since served its purpose. While no one's been offensive to anyone (or no more offensive than usual on NSG, anyway), any remaining discussions have descended into the most extraordinary off-topic semantic nonsense over whether the District of Columbia is part of the United States because it's not called a 'state'.

I concede that I admit in the latter post to engaging in what could be considered to be a mild form of trolling by posting a patently ridiculous (though, I hope, not offensive) argument in order to see what reaction would be. I can only plead boredom through hospitalisation as mitigation (spending three weeks on your side drugged up on painkillers and muscle relaxants would drive anyone mad). If my wrist needs to be slapped, I meekly accept my punishment.
Of course, you could also just choose to punish me by leaving the thread open in order to to remind me not to start silly threads in NSG, in which case I'll hang my head in shame and also meekly accept my punishment.
