You may find it unkind and hurtful, but it is not a flame. It is a comment on the content of an article which you cited as support for your views.
Nor is it automatically improper for a poster to make a comment and leave the thread. They may have only one point to make, or they may have realised that continued interaction in that thread would lead them to break the rules.
I stand corrected.
