Oh come on now. Your accusing Fris of flaming? You know he is a mod, right?

He didn't say that "so and so" is an asshole. He said that people need to ignore radical assholes. There's a BIG difference.

Aren't mods supposed to some code of ethics at least? This comment of his doesn't surprise me in the least.

Perhaps he should clean his mouth out, along with his sock droor.

How was UB not singled out in that post?

Honestly, just because someone's opinions are radical, doesn't give you the right to call them an asshole.

Irrelevant. Mods should be held to the same standards as regular users or they don't deserve to be mods.

All this does is back up my contention that UB needs to be slapped down for continuous trolling and flamebaiting. I mean he baited a mod.

Generalizing racists as assholes is not flaming. No more than when UB generalized Judaism as "ideological dirt" and the Jewish state as "dirt as well."

First, as amusing as this all is, the chatter is gonna probably just aggravate the situation.

Second, baited a mod? Come on. That excuse wouldn't work if you or I made it. Honestly, given the way it was delivered, I actually imagine that such a flame would be barely actionable (if you or I flamed), if actionable at all. However, if it were actionable, I sincerely doubt it would provide any evidence for or against the posts of the UB.

Third, it's abundantly clear that the post leaves us to infer that the "radical asshole" is the person who was reported, UB. And, honestly, when I read it I laughed, because while I've seen mods get pretty bileous before, I've rarely seen such a blatant flame. If it was intended to just point out that Jews have had to deal with some pretty radical stuff, it certainly should have been worded much better.

this post contains some of the most sense and is one of the most compelling arguments of any I have seen in quite a while.

Yeah, this is probably not General.

Eh, I don't think that's actionable. And it would remain non-actionable no matter who had said it.

Seconded, Tsar. I see -- and ignore -- similar usage on the forums every day. Most posters who've been around a while know how to say what they want to say and still stay within the rules. It's general, not specific. Jews (general group, of whom there are many both on and off NS) do have to deal with radical assholes (general group, of whom there are many, etc).

Now, if he'd made some generalised negative comment relating to, say, all clowns who love mud and tacos and collect clown pics, that might be different. But he didn't.

Yes, mods do have to meet the same standards as regular users; but no, we don't have to float around several feet above the wicked world.

Cut it out. Stick to the topic, which is not other posters' activities, but Fris's ruling. All posters are welcome to post helpfully in Moderation, but that's not helpful.

Alright. Fair enough, Ard and Tsar. I just figured I'd check and see.
