If you curious as to the meaning, it's a latin phrase that means "in the good old days, children like you were left to perish on windswept crags.

Hey, I posted this thread ten minutes ago and I've not gotten a response. Why aren't they mods protecting me?!?!?!

^^ Sorry, always wanted to say that.

Incidentally, after much prompting from other posters she finally laid aside the insults and got back on topic, so this all seems to have worked itself out.

EDIT: in retrospect, such a request is what is ill-conceived.

Dammit, Jocabia, you could at least have waited till I learned how to say "cut it out" in Latin!

But how could anyone chide you for a post that introduced them to such a useful site? :p

Dude, that may be my best experience with flaming ever. Most cases you watch things spiral out of control, but basically the entire thread told her to knock it off and... she did. Plus, that site, right? (It was fairly mild anyway. Somehow Latin makes telling me she wished I'd perished on a windswept crag have a bit less bite and a lot more bark, which is my favorite of the tree coverings.)

You could say "desine!" or "desiste!" in the singular and "desinite!" or "desistete!" in the plural.

Dude, I could have so used you earilier. Deus doesn't know crap. It took me forever to figure out what she was saying to me. It didn't occur to me for a bit to search for the entire sentence.

"Desine, you lot!" EDIT: No, desinite.

Nah. Doesn't have that ring to it. Sounds as if I'm telling 'em to get back to the Draftroom. Or to stop doing calculus.

"Desiste, Foul Fiend!"

Almost demands that the sentence be finished " ... and unhand that wench!"

Good, but limited in application.

Hmm. I shall consult with our creative team.

Ard, I have tried to think of every time in my life where someone could say to me "cut it out". And there is not a time, not one, where you couldn't say, "Desiste, foul fiend, and unhand that wench!"

It is a bit presumptuous, though. What if the wench doesn't want to be unhanded?

Now who's being presumptuous? :D

I'm gonna have to close this thread. I made a New Year's resolution. Not to spam, or be the cause of spam in others. ...

I've only broken it -- lessee -- well, maybe I'd better desine.
