I don't think this is within the PG-13 boundaries.

It looks to me like this (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=327319) thread took a turn for an R-rating (if not bordering on pornographic) specifically these posts:

This is only 4 pages back (I'm at 15 posts a page), so it seems to me that this happens often and this thread is now largely a big porn story.

Let's keep in mind that there are still children on these boards. Perhaps a stern warning is in order?

If you want me to, I could probably dig deeper and come up with a lot more.

I'll review it. It'll probably take me a while though, and any Mod who has more time is welcome to take over.

*whine* but it's my last day of holidays ...

Okay, this is just my view, Torvque:

The use of words with sexual impact or of slang words for genitals does not automatically make a post pornographic.

Thanks to some occasionally wooden writing, the series of posts quoted seems to me about as sexy as a set of instructions for putting together flat-pack furniture ("Insert Tab A ..."). However, I'll concede that, to a very young adolescent, even such instructions could be provocative.

The context is that a bunch of kids at a new school, several of whom don't want to be there, are busy earning a reputation as The Wild Gang. Given their ages (apparently, mostly 17), a sex 'n' drugs 'n' rock 'n' roll party seems a reasonable event to RP.

There is a convention in NS that roleplays are given more leeway than posts in the more public forums, such as General.

Some of the posts you've quoted are, to my mind, unobjectionable; character development and storyline stuff.

I don't personally like the ones that sound like commentary on an Olympic event -- who, what and for how long -- but they don't seem to me to have the prurience, detail and gloating that would, to my mind, rate them as pornography/needing mod intervention. Even Imperial Isa's marathons do show how complicated the relationships among his characters are.

The OP, Imported ViZion, is a sufficiently experienced and responsible RPer that if he'd intended a steamy scene to develop, he'd have put a "graphic scenes" warning in the title. The party doesn't read like a planned scene; more like standard action/reaction posting.

Finally, the thread's finished with the party for now. So I'm inclined to leave it up to the better RPers to keep the story moving along -- maybe, now the matter's been raised, a bit more subtly, but I don't see the need to insist.

Still, I'm an ageing hippy, so please note that this is just a comment, and other mods more in touch with current standards may disagree.

Indeed. It's the images the terminology evokes in a person's mind that can be pornographic. Fortunately, we Moderators don't have the unenviable task of Moderating the poster's minds. We just deal with the text on the screen.

Here's what I see in the text on the screen. Not pornography, for one. The level of detail in the posts in not sufficient to make it pornographic. Seriously, I've seen racier stuff (and better writing) in a trashy romance novel.

That said, the use of vulgar terminology in a sexual way as part of dialogue would often put something above the PG-13 rating for films, though not always.

As mentioned by Ardchoille, roleplay gets a bit more leeway than OOC discussion. And even in OOC discussion in General, the level of crude language being used in those roleplay posts you linked to goes largely unremarked upon so long as it does not become excessive or part of a personal attack on another player.

Ultimately, while those posts do in some cases meander over to the line and wink in its general direction, they don't cross it, so far as I can tell. And neither do the other sex-related posts I found in the thread by skimming it.

Torvque, my suggestion is that you just ask ViZion to include a warning in the first post about there being crude sexual language and vague, euphemistic descriptions of sexuality in the thread.
