Bias OP.

As you can see in the link I've provided, said thread can be seen as offensive by those of other beliefs and I would like it edited to include various other holidays.

Acceptance of all beliefs, cultures, and personal choices is quite important to me, and I would appreciate it if you [the mods] would make visible equality a true part of that thread.

Thank you.

I'd object to the thread on quite different grounds.

It's too early for Christmas threads. Christmas is more than three weeks away. If people want to wish each other Merry Christmas, let them do it on Christmas day.

Modifying the thread would be too controversial, you can't ask a mod to do that Ruffy.

I propose that it's sent to Spam, and a moratorium on such threads put in place until at least the 20th December.

I'm not a mod, but there seems nothing even remotely offensive about that thread on any level. I would suggest you get a thicker skin.

How a thread celebrating a holiday can somehow be turned into something offensive is mind-boggling to me. If you dislike it so much, start a thread of your own, for your beliefs. There's nothing remotely offensive in the original post. We certainly can't force everyone here to recognize every aspect of everything they celebrate, for any holiday of any sort.

Moratoriums are only placed on threads when they overwhelm a certain area, and one thread is only needed to discuss the topic. So far, I see no reason for it.

Even though I am not a mod and a mod has ruled, i'd like to point out that pretty much any thread on NS has a biased Op in some way. I do believe its allowed to have an opinion, and the person wants to express their opinion of saying merry Christmas. This is like, the most ridiculous mod. thread ever.

Hey, just because you're a Christian and completely comfortable with this, doesn't mean I have to be also.

To clarify the reason I made this thread: I'm all for tolerance of other's beliefs, but what's going to happen if every single person floods General with their own holiday threads? Why not use this current thread as a communal holiday thread? Change the title to "Happy Holidays!" and add other traditional holiday photos and greeting to the OP? Is that too much to ask? I, for one, think it sensible.

Ruffy has a point. It might make more sense to edit the thread.

But I would only advise that if the situation Ruffy describes actually occurs. Until then it would be pointless.

Or we could just, sorta, let it go and trust to everyone's good sense.

I'd find that action somewhat offensive. It's one thing to censor a post and to take away from it. That's perfectly fine.

But to pad a post and add things that the person never said or intended to say, regardless of the reasons, just seems a little... wrong I suppose is the word I'm looking for.

If it bothers you so much, then post additional greetings within the topic, don't force the OP's post to change.

If they're offended by the existence of someone else's holiday, they're idiots. If they want to celebrate their own holidays, they can make their own threads.

No, it's not. Accepting all such things would require you to be certifiably insane. In any case, you quite clearly do not accept the posters's belief that other holidays do not need to be included, so you are wrong.

Ruffy -- what was this then?

Can I wish you a merry Christmas? (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=544000)

Honestly -- there are better places to waste time -- and it's not in the Moderation forum.
