Trolling?
This post (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13237638&postcount=97) is by the OP of this thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=543759). It seems he's not interested in discussing the points made about the article he contributed, but merely posted it to laugh at "the hypocracy [sic] and sheer hysteria of these posts."
It seems like trolling at worst, trollbaiting at best, to me.
I noticed HotRodia's action. Thanks! :)

No problemo.

I'd have been glad to discuss the points of the article - but frankly there were painfully few worthwhile comments scattered among uncountable (and unworthy) page-long quotation rants, flames, insults, and unsubstantiated statements. Too bad - I would like to say I had hoped for more - but I pretty much knew from post one that I was overreaching the capabilities of all but a few people on this forum. I expected plenty of lame responses but still hoped that the message from my first post would elicit people to be more thoughtful than their knee-jerk reactions would otherwise provide.
You may enjoy poking fun at liberals - but I actually quite enjoy engaging them in rational discussion - there are just some topics which many liberals obviously find harder than others to approach rationally. Nobody has the right to expect a polite response to the vast majority of posts they innitiated. I wasn't expecting sugary politeness myself, but I certainly was disappointed with the lack of reason or civility in all but a few...
Lock it if you wish, but I think doing so says for more about the forum than if you left it open.

Something I've learned over the years here is that you can reasonably expect lame responses to pretty much any thread you start. The subject matter is largely irrelevant to that fact.

I didn't notice all that much rational discussion on your part in that thread. I've seen you do much better in other threads, and strangely those weren't locked.

As a Moderator, what it says about the forum to you is largely irrelevant to me. My task is to enforce forum rules, not pander to the whims of individuals, be they conservative, liberal, or just plain crazy.

Mystic Skeptic, I have had some satisfaction from your posts. You are sometimes quite lateral in your thinking, which is always valuable in subjects which divide the forum on familiar lines.
I contributed to that thread. I did not find you constructive there. You started badly (the OP is terrible, a blanket endorsement of a load of swill you would NEVER put your own name to,) and then ... well ...
The wording of the OP says it all:
Some very valid points contained. These are the facts the despisers don't want to consider or even discuss. Go ahead - illustrate your hate and ignorance - or... are you an independent enough thinker that you can break from the crowd, confront your own cognitive dissonance and recognize facts which don't comply with your preconceptions?
I haven't followed the bitter end of that thread, but it was clear you had no intention of defending what you said were "valid points" or indeed "facts."
The rest of your OP was a blatant challenge to other posters to misrepresent their own opinion. I.E. to troll.
There's a word for that.
My opinion is out of place in a Moderation thread, but I'll give it anyway: the overvaluation of "your" thread caused you to vastly overestimate your own contribution to the thread.
For an example of how this happened to me, of how I took a silly thread too seriously, look here: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=542626
The thread, but moreover your contributions to it, were well below your usual standard. I think you should do as I should do (but don't always), take a humble place in debate as the independent thinker, not the champion of either side.
You may enjoy poking fun at liberals - but I actually quite enjoy engaging them in rational discussion - there are just some topics which many liberals obviously find harder than others to approach rationally.
Well that says a lot. You don't want others' best thoughts, for your own edification. You want their worst thoughts, for a (sadistic?) pleasure to see them say silly things.
Have more pride in your own mind. I say this with kindness.

Have I ever troubled you, ever posted a mischievous or arrogant reply to your posts?
Look at what I hand out to some other posters.
God help me, I like your posts. I like you.
Take my advice: you were either trolling or trollbaiting in that thread, and it's quite right that it came here to moderation. Even the best posters sometimes get a touch of the troll, and it's a friend's duty to point that out.
True trolls have no satisfaction other than attention. You're better than that.
Forget pinning the opponent's shoulders to the mat. Forget blocking the mouth of the cave. Forget being hard and impregnable -- people like you can fly. Be the honest and plain sort, and when the lumbering oafs lunge at you, fly and crap right on their crown!
Dude, they won't even notice. They'll just walk around going "what's that smell?"
OK, I may be advocating some kind of "uber-trolling" here, so I'll stop.
