An issue involving a future thread

I've been working on a longer post about political parties and where they stand, and in an effort to reduce the length of the OP, I had the idea that I could make my individual entries concerning parties in seperate posts and then link to them in the OP. However, this would clutter up the original thread, so I thought of creating a separate thread simply for those posts.

The whole purpose of that thread would be to serve as a location for the standardized descriptions of various political parties, and I wouldn't want people discussing in it. So I'm probing the legality of starting a thread like that along with the possibility of a mod locking it afterwards to avoid unnecessary discussions.

The post I'm writing up isn't done yet, so I'll probably be getting around to making all of this happen sometime later today or tomorrow between 9 am and 1 pm (CET).

If any of this is possible, I'd be grateful, and if not, I'd understand.

That'd be easy enough to do, I suppose, but I'm not sure it'd be necessary.

Perhaps another Mod has a less ambivalent view on it?

Perhaps another Mod has a less ambivalent view on it?I'll assume that means that making a thread for the sole purpose of linking to it is ok.

I've had second thoughts about having the thread locked, since discussion may lead me to correct the entries, so unless there's another ruling as to the legality of creating a hollow thread, I have no further questions.

Thanks for your time :)

not a mod but I do have a question... and wanting to adhere to your desire to not cluttering up your thread in General, I'll post it here.

if you are getting those definitions from another site(s) linking to them would help. otherwise if they're your own views of each party/catagory the main argument you'll get is one whre you pointed out. a need/desire to correct them because they are one viewpoint/opinion.

also, wouldn't such a thread fall under the same type of threads that were tried in the past. like several Smilie/pic resources that ended up in spam?

It's not really meant as a pic resource or anything else, and I doubt I'll be adding to it now that I have the basics done, so it should sink down to the bottom of general now, unless someone does post in it.

it probably would have cluttered General less, and involved less Mod-power for you to post these thoughts elsewhere and link to them there (like say... a blog)
