Wait, you joke about me being a shit eater and then you choose to run to moderation when I turn the joke around on you and point out the childishness of it and want to construe that as a flame? Who do you think you're kidding, now?
If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the bitchin'.

I never said you ate shit. But speaking of shit, that's what you always treat people like, with complete impunity.

The entire thread is turning into a flamy place, which is a shame considering its original purpose. Could the Mods do something to redeem its dignity, or at least prevent it from sinking any lower.

Yeah, sure you didn't. And that smiley at the end to indicate the joke isn't really there.

InGen reports Fass yet uses an inflammatory title. You could have done without the statement in the brackets. To say someone is flaming is a fine statement; you're merely reporting an action. But the second part looks like a pure shot and nothing more.
I wouldn't say Fass is flaming so much as he's being crass. Crass Fass. ;) But really, I don't think it's flaming. It looks like it's just plain crass language.

Crass Fass. ;)
Completely besides the point, but fass is pronounced with a British Received Pronunciation type of "a", thus is closer to "fuss" rather than "fäss", so "crass" and "fass" don't rhyme, I'm afraid.

It's probably pissing in an ocean of piss at this point, but I found this post incredibly offensive. Ridiculing a person for their handicap is really, really low.

The context shows that I wasn't ridiculing him for his handicap (his handicap is not a light one - indeed it is relatively severe and has probably required many corrective surgeries over the years, and I am very sympathetic to his plight). It shows that I was pointing out his IMO hiding behind it when he tried to accost others (in not so delicate words, by the by) for not having served when he himself hadn't. He built an entire argument on "you can't say anything about the military if you haven't served", but then used his own handicap to shield himself from his very own argument. I think it's fair game to be able to point that out.
Never once did I ridicule him for his handicap (and I would never dream of doing anything of the sort with a disabled person - it goes to my very core as a person to have empathy with those afflicted by illness, and I apologise profusely and indiscriminately to Wilgrove if he got the idea that I was in any way mocking his affliction), but I was criticising him for what he was trying to use it for in that argument - he himself involved his own handicap, I naturally hadn't even mentioned it until he brought it up as a "mitigating circumstance" of why his opinion on the military was valid despite him not having served, while at the same time he was claiming no one else's who hadn't served was.

Meh. The whole thread has been veering in a not-so-cool direction for a while. Perhaps it's time to close it and let someone start a less virulent thread about it after a cool-down period.

I am fully aware of the context of the post I quoted. He couldn't serve and you wouldn't. Both of you put your money where your mouths were. He's no more hiding behind a handicap than you are.
Never once did I ridicule him for his handicap
Pardon the heck out of me me if putting "handicap" in quotes and saying he's hiding behind a 'defect' comes off as ridicule. I think the incredible offense he took to the post speaks far more cogently than I could:

I really want to believe you meant no offense, I do. If nothing more, at least be a little pickier with the way you word things in the future. I doubt me and him were the only ones offended.

Erm...
Didn't a mod already give a ruling?

I very much doubt that and it's none of my concern either or really - I only have Wilgrove to apologise to if that's how he misunderstood it, while you I don't really care for debating it with, especially not in Moderation and most certainly not after a moderator already ruled on the thread.
