Attn: Euro - Petition to update II sticky

I'm not sure if this is where this thread should go, but I believe that there should be an update to the II Consolidation sticky. First of all, the List of Currencies (And Their Power Against The USD) (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=355749) by Hogsweat should be removed. Hogsweat was deleted and this thread now serves no purpose as it can not be updated. If someone else was to start a new thread for this, it should replace this thread, but for now this thread should at least be removed in my opinion. Second, I believe that The Art of NS War (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=528099) by Daehanjeiguk should be stickyed. It is a very high quality work and many have complimented not only for its writing skill but also its practicality and good advice. Finally, I believe that the Cost of nuclear program for your nation (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=542151) by Vault 10 should be stickyed. He put a lot of work into this, and it is a very good reference thread for those who are seeking to make nuclear weapons in their nation. It gives a good reference to the many nuke weilding new players, and would make a great addition to the current list in the sticky.

In summary, I propose that:

The List of Currencies (And Their Power Against The USD) (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=355749) by Hogsweat should be unstickyed.
The Art of NS War (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=528099) by Daehanjeiguk should be stickyed.
The Cost of nuclear program for your nation (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=542151) by Vault 10 should be stickyed.

Comments, support, etc. is appreciated.

Ummm.....First thread you list isn't even stickied so I don't know what your talking about.....

Unless you mean them being listed in the II Consolidation Sticky.

Yeah, that's what I mean.

If anything, Daehanjeiguk's thread should be added to the lexicon. It's one of the best-written thread I've ever seen, and is a great help to anyone looking to RP.

Euroslavia is still around and can make those edits. It's possible another active roleplay mod might want to update that too. I edited the thread title to more accurately reflect what was asked.

While you're at it, II/NS folks, are there any details in existing should-be-kept stickies that are egregiously out-dated? I remember someone saying the sports RP links are a bit wonky. HotRod updated the storefronts links about six months ago, I think. Any others?

Official List of Terrorist Organizations is most likely out of date, last update was 05 I think.

Most of the lists under "National Information" are in a perpetual state of outdatedness, so as usual they could use some going over. TBH they can never really be kept 100% up to date, but they might need some cleaning out/replacing/etc.

The following should be added to the Economy stuff:
http://nstracker.org/
http://nsdossier.texasregion.net/main.aspx
I use these things a lot, they're a lot of fun.

The Collection of All Earths by Euro is a mite out of date I think.

The Why Do You Love Nationstates thread could always use a swift kick in the rear, because it's a fun topic and it's an 05 thread.

On the IRC list of things, the following are essentially inactive from what I can tell:
#internationalincidents
#nationstates_politics
There was a movement to revive #internationalincidents a few months ago, but it fell kinda flat as most of the people on there were from #draftroom (those that weren't were from #nationstates), and were too lazy to log into 2 chatrooms.

Speaking of, #draftroom would be good to add on the IRC list :p it's sort of taken over as the II channel. (It and #nationstates)

That's what I see right off the bat. Could someone go through the IRC Channels?

What he said ^

Also:

Imports/Exports by Praetonia (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=390671) is rather outdated, last major action being in 06 (really 05, but 06 had some, only 1 post in 07). It never really functioned as much besides a resource shop for Praetonia anyways. It's a neat concept, but it's more like a storefront than a stickyable material that will teach people about roleplaying, which seems to be the theme of the II consolidation thread.

Under Economy:

There is a random [/color] after the ThirdGeek calc, just fyi.

Random:

I dunno, maybe links to the NSDraftroom or Lineartinc could be added. While it is not required that people go there, it offers a great place for people who like to design and or draw to hang out, offer advice, and get help in designing technology for NS.

EDIT: http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=294193 <-- That should be its own sticky, at the very top, and in bold... XD

Thanks, Kampfers, No endorse. I am now kicking myself (and dodging other mods) because I realise what a Pandora's box I've opened.

On IRC: Someone who knows what they're doing will no doubt have a look, but in general, it'd make sense to wait until the ideas discussed here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=13194295#post13194295) are worked out. I dunno, channels might revive.

On that thread, Kampfers: I had a quick look at the first three pages. A couple of useful posts and lots of chat. It'd need heavy editing to be useful.

On wonky links: I'll start a thread in Gameplay, link to come. EDIT:Here. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=13195394#post13195394)

Sorry for the thread hijack, Kampfers. Back to the original topic.

I'm afraid that I'm so out of touch with II that I wouldn't know if there've been new and updated threads on each. I would welcome an active II'er who knows his stuff to take over, and create a new thread, of which I would sticky, and de-sticky my own topic.

>_> Whoops, sorry Ardchoille...

Euro: I'm not sure we need to scrap your thread, but perhaps just rework it a bit. If you do decide to scrap it, I suppose I could make a new thread if no one else volunteers. Imo, however, I'd just follow the give suggestions or whatnot and kwep your thread.

I'm not going to be able to maintain it constantly, so we're going to have to bring this issue up repeatedly about it not being updated, so I'd rather have someone dedicated to II who would take care of it. I'm not up to date on really anything on II (given my disappearance for a few months, that'll help you lose track of things).

I think it would be best to have 2-4 editors for the list, making the first few posts, each editor responsible for his section. First, three people know more than one, second, we get a failsafe with potential replacement.

Since I check threads concerning me often and don't plan on leaving, I can update the thread operatively following input.
Particularly I can take the part on technology, design and warfare - check the old threads for being still relevant, review new threads, respond to suggestions. Probably also overall nation and economy part.

We're currently discussing with a few people who could take other parts.

I'm getting better with php formatting, and becoming more involved in II and NS, so I wouldn't mind maintaining a consolidation thread. The best way, I think, would be to designate a few people to maintain certain consolidation threads- like "The Great Big Thread O' War" or the "Storefronts of NS" and then link those to the main sticky.

I already started an embassy consolidation thread in NS, that's the sort of concept I was looking at.

IMHO several consolidation threads would introduce another layer, which would in result simply turn people off.

Although for such threads as "Storefronts of NS" and "Current wars" I agree that a separate thread is better than a post - they update too fast to go through a person, and don't really need much filtering anyway. They'd be fully open to posting and "self-advertising", such as posting link to your storefront or war thread. General sticky IMHO shouldn't be, to keep relevant information visible.
So I guess we'll have a section (post) in the sticky which will link to such threads.

I couldn't agree more, especially on the NS Art of War, I think it's one of the best things that have been made.
