Advocating Violence
I'm pretty sure this crosses the line. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13181651&postcount=7)

I'm pretty sure it doesn't.
I'm pretty sure it doesn't.
How does advocating violence against a group of people not count as going over the line?

I support this kind of violence against reactionaries.Let's get together and go kill some Republicans and Christians
1) is strong opinion that you might disagree with, but is nonetheless legal.
2) is an outright threat against specific groups of people, and is against site rules as stated in the FAQ.
Find me that "line" that they crossed in the FAQ (http://www.nationstates.net/page=faq), the TOS (http://www.nationstates.net/pages/legal.html), or the One Stop Rules Shop (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=416023), and I might change my mind. I've looked, and I don't see it.

The FAQ says that you can't post content that is threatening, and I would think that it is indeed threatening. I couldn't imagine someone getting away with saying "I support this kind of violence against Papists" in any situation, as this, too, would be threatening.
Edit: Probably malicious, too.

So if I were to say "I support this kind of violence against lefties," the moderation staff would take no action?

C'mon, guys, you should know by now what the answer to these will be: judgement call. Fris has given you a clear enough response. Don't try to pin it down, example by example. Accept that circumstances alter cases.
Here's a post from a year ago that gets the general idea across pretty well, I think:

And that was in response to a complaint about a post that contained this:
"If the US flag was banned at a school because some Muslim students were offended by it, I would hope that those students would be given a pounding and told to "love it or leave it."
There are better things to do with your forensic skills than exercise them on the rules of an online game.
