Question about pedophiliac threads

Whoa, what a bad title.
My question concerns threads dealing with pedophilia. According to the moderators, there is a moratorium, which I understand and do not wish to complain about. However, on the same page as the thread "What's wrong with pedophilia?" was a thread with something like "Bishop makes protecting pedophiles his prerogative." I would like to know what the line between having a thread that mentions pedophilia (and can stay) and those that are about pedophilia (and must leave).

I'm not going to show you a line because I'm not interested in setting out food for rules-lawyers, but I can tell you that the thread you mentioned has been read by myself, and the topic of discussion is for the most part staying on the subject of the nature of the conduct of Catholic officials with regard to priests who've violated the law of the land.
If the thread drifts into being a discussion of pedophilia rather than Catholic Church policy, I'll certainly close it as soon as I notice.

Okay, thanks for answering. Actually, I have another question: how are thread closures determined? Is there a set of rules, or is it at the discretion of the mods? If it is at your discretion, what do you look out for?
I've checked the forum rules, but it's unclear as to what constitutes a "bad thread."

I'm not a mod but I could offer my opinion on what might be considered a "bad thread"
Pornographic threads
threads designed to elicit spam
threads glorifying illegal or immoral topics
Threads glorifying Nazi topics
Threads set up specifically to irritate or anger
I'm sure the mods can add and elaborate but I t5hink I've covered many of the major taboos

I suspect the more experienced mods have some sort of ESP that tells them which spammy thread will stay spammy, which one is about to erupt in flame and which one will turn into a really good discussion.
Me, I use this post (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8784641&postcount=3) in the OSRS as a guide, on the basis that if it's a forbidden action in a post, it's a fair bet that it is in a thread, too.
I guess it's a bit like getting dressed up to make an impression on someone: if you keep asking yourself "Is this okay?", it probably isn't.

It's mostly Mod discretion that determines whether a thread is closed rather than being deleted or moved, if that's what you're referring to.
As far as "bad" threads go, it's usually just a case of determining whether or not the title, OP, or general thread content is in violation of the rules.
