Seems to be establishing setting after a war. As long as the rest of the thread's got substance, I've got no problem with it in this instance.

It's reasonable to expect the first post of an RP to set the scene and the atmosphere. I think pictures are a reasonable way of doing that, provided they don't become the major means of communication in the body of the RP.
