Context, context, context, ZachsMind. If the use of "dingbat" were actionable by itself, I'd have been permabanned long since, and so would half my countrymen, because it can be used fondly and admiringly, and we do.
In this case, it plainly wasn't. Such is the versatility and volatility of NS posters that it's not difficult to imagine circumstances in which "Your mother's a very nice lady" is flamebait (NOTE: this is not an invitation). Let's not get into niggling over specific words.
