How does the moderator queue work?

I'm posting under a new account, and I tried to start a poll in the UN forum -- only it didn't show up at all. I've successfully made five posts since then, but the poll still hasn't popped up.

Was it because only the first post was in queue, and it is still waiting to be verified? Do only certain posts get queued? Or was it just a glitch?

The new spam filter theoretically only affects users with less than 10 posts, and moderates any post containing particular words (including sell, nokia, viagra etc etc). The spammers selling mobile phone crap keep that moderation queue full to overflowing. Jolt tells us that they get up to 900 such spam posts a day.

Since it doesn't look like it's going to go away, Forum mods are hitting the Approval Queue several times a day and auto-approving everything in the NationStates forums (well, almost everything. Not duplicates or spam.) We're also trying to talk Jolt into removing this 'feature', at least from our members and/or forums. In short, we're doing everything we can to alleviate this problem, and notification doesn't add to our urgency.

Hope this helps.

We've had a shortage of available forum mods due to a summer influx of Real LifeĀ® computer and scheduling issues. Somebody usually gets to them at least once a day, but that's all we can promise.

That's fine. It's not some big emergency if my latest drivel doesn't show up immediately; I just wanted to know. ;)
