Trouble Brewing

There are a few iffy posts in II's latest and greatest ( http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=533559 ) that are probably worth mentionning but not very actionable, but this little gem (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12899141&postcount=21) really stands out to me as flaming.

Man, some people just don't know when to give it up. It's kind of pathetic, really.

And by pathetic, I mean the people who came into the thread just to make trouble, and not the OP.

I saw the thread when I got back from work and I was going to report it...but I noticed someone beat me to it.

I dropped that whole thing when Hataria was deleted, I don't know why some people won't do the same.

Seems awfully close to Mod policing of roleplay / intrusion on FFRP, trying to force players to IGNORE... but then again, you've had your Mod licence for a bit longer than I have. :)

If only there WERE a licence to be a Mod. Seems to me all the OOC flaming could have been snipped without derailing the thread, it's not like Hataria doesn't have a few friends on these forums (me, Kurona, Magic Sorcery, etc.) He may have a small RP circle, but so did I when I started.

We were orginally told we could keep the land. I think its fair, but now apparently Fris has reversed that?

Apparently so. He'll do anything to try to keep Hataria from taking his land back.

Of course, this IS free-form roleplay, supposedly. I see no reason to ICly accept an OOCly imposed ruling for IC purposes.

So, erm...

...Fris is a Mod. Thus, I believe we kinda have to do what he says. And flamebaiting him might not be the best idea in the world...

We can debate and argue mod rulings, but they get the final say.

The issue is, a deleted nation basically never existed. No one is able to claim Hatarian anything. That was the ruling a while back.

Hataria finally bit the dust?
Figures... he's been around long enough:p

Gloating has been stated to be a punishable defense. Don't do it.

You misunderstood me. I have no reason to gloat over Hataria's deletion. I was simply making a light hearted jibe at the moderation team. I was jokingly suggesting that anyone who has been around that long is likely to get deleted:)
And I would be offended at the tone of your reply if being offended at the tone of someone's reply in the Moderation forum wasn't a DEAT-able offense;)

I think that I'll go back to lurking now, because now that I think about it, I've been around for quite a while myself:eek:

Thank you for fixing the thread and clarifying that Hataria was retconned.

I've never seen such a ruling. Link?

The reason we are moderating roleplay in this case is that Hataria has turned it from a roleplay question into a moderation question. Every time he RPed a war and was annihilated, he came crying to us after rising phoenix-like from the dust and other players disagreed. The continuing weekly battles over the flamefests that erupted in those threads went on for close to two years, and they ALL revolved around Hataria regaining his lost lands or people.

When we finally deleted his nation (over him threatening lawsuits, among other things), we locked all threads claiming his former lands, as this idiocy was not going to continue to be tolerated. This lock was a continuation of that exact same policy.

Melkor made a ruling here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=531417&highlight=Hataria), though now I'm not sure if it was a group decision, if you weren't aware of it.

I was fully aware of Melkor's decision, which, as he said, was discussed among the other mods.It seems to be based on backstory and I didn't see any explicit reference to you seizing Hatarian land/population/assets/etc so as far as I can tell, it should be okay so long as you don't take advantage of his DEAT for an in-game advantage. If Hataria is on a map or something and you want to use it as a representation of some previously acquired holding, that's fine.
It must hand back ALL of The Hatarian Homeland and give $2 trillion to The Hatarian People.
Seems pretty clear to me that this falls within Melkor's caveat (bolded above) as to which would be allowed to remain open and which would be closed. It's also entirely consistent with Melkor's decision (and mine, and several other mods) to close and leave closed any other threads that RPed the spoils of the Hatarian wars and/or deletion.
OOC: call this pay back.
No, I'm going to call this "attempting to reverse a previous decision that was posted right here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12790499&postcount=10) the last time you tried this." This is not a new decision. No new precedent was set.
