National Animals/Currency
While I know you can't use specific races/groups of people as your national animal or currency, can I use the word 'human' in a generic sense?

I'm hoping the context will help too, it's supposed to be a nation of the Cthulhi, and what self respecting trans-dimensional mega alien wouldn't use humans as currency?
Human is fine. You can't discriminate against someone for being human...

Rather, on what you are, yes? If you aren't human, you can discriminate against humans.
Although I suppose you need a population of non-humans to discriminate in favor of, so perhaps geographic limitations are best after all. Hmm...
