Unpleasant is definitely the word I'd use. I thought about reporting this myself, but based on previous mod rulings I was guessing it wasn't actionable.

Uh, buh? Sure it's unpleasant, but Fass is often unpleasant. Unpleasant isn't generally against the rules. What rules did he violate?

I kinda have to agree with Jocabia on this one. Those are certainly flamey, but I don't think they're flamey to the point of being actionable.

No, no. I just meant that, based on rulings I've seen, it isn't severe enough. Plus, Fassigen seems to be able to get away with much more severe personal attacks than other posters. I'm guessing because most people just figure "Hey, that's Fass!" and don't report it.

I'll admit I'm part of the problem.

I can understand getting caught up in the moment. I can understand debates getting heated. What bothers me is Fass started this sniping a propos of nothing. This wasn't frustration coming out at the end of a very long debate (at least not in that thread).

It just seemed to be unreasonable responses to resonable posts. He bit that guy's head off even though poster said the vietnamese hooker thing was a joke. I just don't understand how reasonable debate can happen when there's tempers flaring that easily.

If I may, I think we're all getting a wee bit overheated here. We need to calm down.

After reviewing the posts in question, my opinion is that, while harsh, Fass's actions are not actionable, nor are Neesika's--or Zarakon's for that matter. It's another one of those cases of thick skin needed rather than actual flaming. And remember the emotional content of Fass's posts, especially in regards to the specifics of the argument. He feels very passionately about what he is saying, so some more of his ire than usual leaks through. Does that fully excuse what he did? No, but it does need to be taken under consideration.

Neesika is simply following suit--much less harshly--and Zarakon doesn't even come close to either of them in his phrases.

As such, I personally think none of this stuff is actionable, but that's not for me to decide, obviously, but is just my opinion.

I'm personally expecting the mods to get irritated at us for carrying our annoyance at each other into moderation.

I actually considered deleting my posts, but then it occurred to me that that was probably a bad idea, since it would mean only my comments would be in the thread. Which won't look very good.

Bleh. How about I just put Zarakon on ignore? That way, I don't have to see him getting all offended by my profanity. I guess pointing out that the complaints so far have been laughable = flaming in the eyes of some.

DING!! Many times the tone of a post is based in how you are feeling at the time. So much of the time people are telling me I'm angry in a thread where I'm laughing as I write every post. Of course, what you write affects it, but sometimes it seems like if there is a harsh way to read a post, that's how people read it.
