Flamebait

Isn't this post (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12707788&postcount=25) going a bit too far?
Well, while we're at it, I wanna point out F.A.G.'s quoted post, that was a flamebait as well. And no, I'm not disputing (nor supporting) the notion that Fleck was on the wrong, just pointing out that F.A.G. was.

Hur hur hur... "fag"...
Oy.
FreedomAndGlory's post seems fine to me. It's expression frustration. Pity so many forum goers can't express frustration without ranting like lunatics.

So, am I to understand it that we cannot abbrieviate FreedomAndGlory as FAG anymore? As far as I recall, I have never done it myself, but I am inquiring upon the behalf of those who do. If I am correct, I think that most posters who use it feel it was intended by the person behind the account when s/he created the account(as And is capitalized) and it is an ironic pet name used due to his/her views on homosexuality.
But is it flamebait of sorts and thus should not be used?

Point made.
I put the periods after each letter to avoid it... Will FG suffice? Or FNG?
For the record, I didn't mean to play on the "fag" word... As demonstrated by my perioding. :P

I think that anyone worthy of being taken seriously will be able to read the use of the acronym in context and deduce that it is in fact an acronym, and then most likely link it to FreedomAndGlory. Compare the sentences "I think FAG makes some good points" and "I think N00bistan is a fag".

Just a thought, if there's really concern ... F&G works just fine as well, no?

Nice! Like D&G, or Procter & Gamble! :D

So...wait...is it okay or not? I mean, it seems immature, but then again 90% of stuff on NSG is...

To clarify; if people take offense at the use of "FAG" as an acronym for "FreedomAndGlory", they are idiots. Now there are a lot of idiots in this world, but if they complain about this they will not have a case. You may use the acronym "FAG" for "FreedomAndGlory". If you're worried about it, you can use "F.A.G." or "F&G" or "F'n'G" or something.
Since I still have some faint hope in the rationality of humanity, I do not believe that this will be a problem.

Generally all the letters in an abbreviation are capitalized. For instance **** stands for Canadian Undead Neutralization Team...if I didn't capitalize it, it would be something much worse.
Capitalization is the difference between "I helped my uncle Jack off a horse" and "I helped my uncle jack off a horse"
I can fully understand why OP is on edge here.

In speech, done through intonation. :D

Just to put in my own take on this, I don't mind if I am referred to as "FAG" as long as I'm not called "a FAG." As long as it's evident that you are simply abbreviating my name without any devious undertones, I have no problem with it. For example, I feel offended by this post, in which the user refers to me as "the FAG."
