Archive Request

I've been hunting around the stickies and I can't find any reference to what kind of threads get archived, or why they do. However, I thought I'd ask about moving this thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=527791) into it, because I think it shows General in its (rarely seen) best light. It's quite interesting, informative, flame free, spam free, troll free, and, dare I say it? shows a level of intellect and reason.
I was quite pleased with how it went, because I wasn't actually sure anyone was going to reply in the first place. I admit I'm biased because it's my thread, so I'll just ask very nicely. :)

Why no request for the old NBIP thread as well?...
Lord Sah Philosopy, you have let down your followers. *sniffle*

It had never even occurred to me to ask for a thread to be archived before. And besides, it clearly wouldn't have done any good; I was taking the awkward silence to mean a resounding 'no'. :p

We pretty much stopped archiving by request after the move to Jolt in 2004. Since we don't do thread purges anymore, there isn't much point. A few more have been dumped in since then, but there's no longer an official process for review, and we're probably not going to restart one.

Fair enough. Thanks for letting me know.
