The Plutonian Empire had no reason to say that women are crap.

"Won't someone please think of the children!" - the rev's wife on the Simpsons (I think)

Get a grip, sweatheart.

Calling women "crap" is not something that should be dismissed readily.

I wouldn't have cared if the person swore but the fact that they singled out women and labelled us as "crap" is grounds enough for a complaint. I feel that as a woman I have a right not to be called "crap" and if you have a problem with this, take it up with the mods because that's what I'm doing.

ps - learn to spell if you're going to use a condescending tone.

Ummm.....personally if I was a female i'd be offended by the phrase that TPE used. So yeah, I personally feel that Kryozerkia as a valid complaint.

The same reason women say that men are crap.

I asked the offenders on all sides of this to stop. I didnt mean to begin any form of arguement at all. And BTW, I am a woman, sure he is unjust in calling women crap, but eh.

Unjust? No. I am quite justified in saying that.

And no, I did not mean to start an argument either. It was someone else who decided to started the argument, and yeah, I admit, it's my fault for letting the argument go on.

This complaint does seem somewhat out of proportion.

You call this 'flaming/sexist'. As I understand it, it's not flaming, as it's not directed at anyone. As for sexist, well, so what? You could change it for any number of words and it would simply be another comment that gets posted everyday on NSG. Republicans are crap, soldiers are crap, Christians are crap...

Supersensitivity is not what is needed on this site. If this is to be turned into a debate I beleive it should be moved to General where it can be discussed, and eventually locked when ultra-fems start to sprout nonsense. Moderation is no place for this timewasting.

I therefore request that this thread be placed in NSG.
I'm not an ultra fem; I just don't feel that TPE's comment was necessary; it was out of line and just plain rude. It opened a can of worms, making Shakal's thread a hotbed for thread hijacks.

If you want to start a thread in NSG by all means go ahead. I won't stop you but if there is something that is very rude and trollish about it, I will report it because there is no plain for that kind of uncivil behaviour in the forums.

I don't consider it super sensitive when the comment is trollish and it's obliviously meant to be provocative in a flamey sense then it will be reported because people here want a friendly environment where we can debate without having to worry about others posting derogatory comments about other people.

Moderation is for reporting this kind of thing.

I am using moderation to report it rather than replying to the person because the last time I replied to a person like that I got a ban because I was thoroughly pissed off and I said shit I shouldn't have. So now I prefer to let the moderators deal with this because even if they rule against me at least I know that it wasn't because I was stupid and posted a trollish comment on the forums.

Actually, it is. The statement is patently false and devoid of any content worthy of consideration by a rational individual.

Ignore it as you would any other gibberish.

This is true.
Besides, it's TPE. You expect it from him.

Yeah, but we expect stuff from various posters. We expect Fass to rant about the opression of t3h gayz and how horrible America is, we expect Soviestan to defend Islam no matter what, we expect DCD to link to insane news, we expect Bottle to flip out at people and demand sources, we expect Johnny B Goode to say "Lolz", we expect me to make excessive threads about music, we expect Cabra West to talk about sex, and we expect plenty of other stuff from other posters.

But that doesn't mean where the line is drawn changes for them.

I seriousy doubt that if whatever the hell he was, Putoniana Empire or something, said all men are crap if he was a women you would care. No you probably wouldn't make a big deal out of it.You'd say 'Oh snap!!!' and be done with it.

Ps: I know you live in Canada but 1st Amendment and Canada has freedom of speech too.

I know. But isn't it hard to get worked up about it when it's a poster well-known for unpleasant, misogynistic remarks?
Besides, as Philosopy said, if he'd said "all Republicans are crap" nobody would've batted an eyelid. If he'd said "all English people are crap" or "all Americans are crap" he might've got flamed, but he wouldn't've got moderated. We've had threads roughly along the lines of "all men are crap" (actually, worse; all men need a smack, or something) which did cause a stir, but didn't get moderated. Why should "all women are crap"?

Why should "all women are crap"?

You'll notice I didn't condemn the remark. If anything, I hate that this comment was even reported. It's clear evidence of a societal double standard. I just wanted to put down the idea that just because someone does it a lot doesn't mean it's okay. I don't know about you guys, but I'm not missing Cluich.

You'll notice I didn't condemn the remark. If anything, I appreciate that we finally have someone who helps balance out the men-haters we get on here once in a while. (Although his sexual frustration makes it a little creepier...). I just wanted to put down the idea that just because someone does it a lot doesn't mean it's okay. I don't know about you guys, but I'm not missing Cluich.

Knock off the chatter. This isn't General.

I'm making a temporary ruling that in the context of the thread, that comment is no more offensive than the vast majority of General comments. If another mod wants to chip in with their two cents, they're welcome to.

As for the rest of you, go back to General. Thread closed.
