Concerning the rules about Warez (as defined in the One Stop Rules Shop):

Do ROMs and emulators for abandonware games fall under the "or keys/cracks/hacks to software to get around purchasing requirements" clause in the rules about warez?

The issue came up in a recent thread (to be left nameless unless absolutely necessary), and while that thread now seems to be resolved, I'd like to get some mod clarification on the subject should the question come up again.

I can't give you a preemptive yes or no without seeing evidence. We don't ban based on hypotheticals.

If there's even the remotest chance that Max could get into trouble because you posted such stuff on his site, don't post such stuff on his site.

Technically, distributing abondonware is still pirating. Just because the company ignores the product doesn't mean their copyright has expired.
