About the mafia game..

I've seen that the new thread about it was closed, and while I'm not interested in playing it, I do want to ask about how it was missed last time, when a mod had moved it from General to II.

Also, if the game was changed a little bit, would it be allowed? Like, if instead of having it be about which person killed the other, it could be about which nation's government had done it?

Just wondering..

Fairly sure it's not allowed because it's advertising another game, regardless of the game's content.

Ah, guess I should point out that I was mostly refering to this:

(No, the fact that we didn't shut down the first one isn't proof that we allow such. We just missed it, that's all.)

If you want to run a murder mystery, or a World War II re-creation, or pretty much anything that doesn't directly involve your NS nation or the people who run it / live in it, then you can't play it here.

You're welcome to set up a free offsite forum for the game. You're even welcome to include a link in your sig (assuming all other site rules about sigs are met). However, you can't run a recruitment thread for it in any of our forums, as we would quickly fill up with a bunch of totally non-NS spamvertising.

If you want to re-frame it into NationStates somehow and post it in II or NS, that's fine. Under no circumstances do RP threads of any sort belong in General, even if that's your target audience. Again, sorry.

So we can play it with representatives of the nations as players/murder suspects/assassins, if I understand Fris correctly. That's good, 'cause that was kinda the plan from the beginning :)

And we would keep it to II, of course. The thread in general was just to make players who have previously asked about the game aware that we're starting up. Apologies if we shouldn't have done that.

Links to forums are fine (assuming said forums do not violate the rules, etc). It's when people start linking to other games that we tend to get irritated.

can you link me to these rules? are they the forum rules here or is there a rule-set for the types of forums you can link to?

thanks for taking the time to answer questions!

It's more a matter of courtesy. If people want to advertise their games, they can purchase ads through Jolt. There's no reason for us to give it to them for free.
