iMove threadz0r ... indeed, congratulations to Ardchoille, our newest (and awesome) forum mod.

In the place of a Dark Lord we shall give you a Queen; not dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night! Fair as the Sea and the Sun and the Snow upon the Mountain! Dreadful as the Storm and the Lightning! Stronger than the foundations of the Earth. All shall love her and despair!

How many mods ARE there?

She makes Lucky Number Thirteen (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=438230) - Five FMs and 8 GMs.

Given relative levels of inactivity, the number is actually somewhat smaller than that, but that's the official count.

I'm guessing they're similar to the Hindu Pantheon, in that there are far to many to know, but just wanted to know if this is correct.

So, okay, I return from a day spent scrupulouzly excizing Americanz spellingz from other journoz' copy to find that I'M A THREAD!

Now, I suppose a good little apprentice mod would say, "Thank you all for your encouragement and good wishes," and then retire discreetly so as not to clog up Moderation with unnecessary posts.

The hell you say!

First up, I don't think it was meant to be announced this way. But certain people whose identities I can't prove but still suspect Hacked imModerately into my nation, didn't they, and changed the pre-title from the unassuming and truthful "The Randomly Coherent Conclave of Ardchoille" to this:

The Holy Cow! What's This?! Is That A Moderator Tag I See? She's Lost Her Mind! of Ardchoille

... which even my regionmates noticed. Hence this thread. (Thanks, Homie.)

Next up, a few acknowledgements:

(B) ... but I know you. (really evil heh-heh.)

@ sundry UN denizens

I took one for the team, guys. They promised if I went along with this they'd pay the glaziers' bill. You know, from the defenestrations?

@ the Hindu pantheon proposal: Look, I never thought I'd ever have reason to say these particular words in this particular order, but, given that this cold is making my nose feel like a trunk and my ears feel all swollen up ... ye gods, this is hard to say ...

The Cluichstani UN Mission is ... is ... (choke) ... right.

Seriously, many of the mods are pretty classically weird, but they have so much to do that they eventually start sounding a bit curt. It seems like new blood often gets them to have fun in front of us a bit more often. As a fan of weird, I'm hoping she does this for them. I know I'm excited about adding another odd bird to the flock. If you pay attention several of the mods have a great sense of humor. The rest of them are... well... pretty?

No, I'm a journalist. I was a teacher briefly, many years ago, but found that my homicidal tendencies were a lot closer to the surface than I'd thought.

As the old saying goes, those that can't teach, and those that can become journalists. (Those that can fake it become computer programmers for journaists. :p )

Congratulations!

I hope this doesn't mean that Dicey will get too busy to party with us again sometimes... :fluffle:

One of our people pushed a big red button a few weeks ago, over in The West Pacific, but a Jedi came along and spoilt the fun...

(A) ... by that name. (mildly evil heh-heh.)
(B) ... but I know you. (really evil heh-heh.)

Hmmmz.....

So then I know one of your other names, eh?

*thinks deeply*

Your not on one of my messangers, are ya?

Careful there, laddy -- there are a few educators in the mod squad...

besides, where do all the doctors and lawyers sprout from, banana trees?

....oh yes, that's right.... years and years of schooling, eh wot?

No, we just pop out, fully formed, and immediately sue the midwife for the negligent statement to our mothers that it "won't hurt too much".

That's you example? Lawyers and doctors? Probably not that compelling to those of us have to deal with both on a frequent basis.

By the way, Ard, go with a smiling avatar, Ard. I just saw Tsar say a totally snarky comment and it comes out perfectly with a giant grin next to it.

Congratulations Ardchoille. I'm sure you will be a great asset to the team of moderators. Get excited for your first thread, complaining of bias. That usually happens for new mods within the first week. :p

I thought that that claim was that the rest of the mods were biased, not Ard.

Actually it was the claim that all mods are necessarily biased. That's why what forum they are from matters (if that were true). She's a mod. She's tossed in the bunch with the rest of 'em. And deservedly so. Take that how you want it. ;)

Well, players have typically done something for mods to be biased against them. For example, there's definitely a reason October3 is DEAT on site (I think that's his status.)

Congratulations, Ardchoille. May the Keys, Eraser, Catapult, and Hatchet be with you. And remember, only the SLAGlands can demand danishes from you.

So silly. Why would one need an eraser when they have a hatchet?

Tunable? I don't like tuna. Maybe we could make it a nice haddockable laser? Makes better fish and chips.

Instead of congratulating Ardchoille, I'll save my congratulations for the folks who run NS on making an exceptionally fine addition to the staff. Ardchoille is one of the most reasonable, responsible, thoughtful and intelligent folks I've met on NS. If I had been required to make the choice of someone to assume Mod duties, she'd have been it.

I've thought so for some time, as have others on the team; we're glad she accepted.

You don't like tuna? Blasphemy against the Sacred Sushi!

Just for that no Toro Maki for you then.

But to show that I don't want to annoy the mods, here is a nice Unagi Temaki-zushi. (Or in other words a hand roll of grilled freshwater eel with a BBQ sauce. Yum yum.) ((I actually had Unadon (Unagi Donburi) which is freshwater eel in a box on a bed of sushi rice last Friday.))

until you've had una don, you haven't lived.

I judge living as something seperate from respiration and independent thought, of course.
