Given relative levels of inactivity, the number is actually somewhat smaller than that, but that's the official count.

Well, I haven't heard much from Ardchoille (the name's a bit familiar, but I haven't seen many posts from this person), but nevertheless, I wish him/her the best of luck!

Seriously, many of the mods are pretty classically weird, but they have so much to do that they eventually start sounding a bit curt. It seems like new blood often gets them to have fun in front of us a bit more often. As a fan of weird, I'm hoping she does this for them. I know I'm excited about adding another odd bird to the flock. If you pay attention several of the mods have a great sense of humor. The rest of them are... well... pretty?

I have but one thing to say to the newest mod on the team, as per long-established tradition.

That can take a while, but we recognize her right to act as one, even if the tool belt takes a while to find its way to her. Moderator tag or not, she's part of the squad, effective immediately.

Well, players have typically done something for mods to be biased against them. For example, there's definitely a reason October3 is DEAT on site (I think that's his status.)

Instead of congratulating Ardchoille, I'll save my congratulations for the folks who run NS on making an exceptionally fine addition to the staff. Ardchoille is one of the most reasonable, responsible, thoughtful and intelligent folks I've met on NS. If I had been required to make the choice of someone to assume Mod duties, she'd have been it.

But to show that I don't want to annoy the mods, here is a nice Unagi Temaki-zushi. (Or in other words a hand roll of grilled freshwater eel with a BBQ sauce. Yum yum.) ((I actually had Unadon (Unagi Donburi) which is freshwater eel in a box on a bed of sushi rice last Friday.))

I'm not so much a fan of sushi, but Japanese-style cooked eel is something I rather like. :)
