15-Line Limits - by what standard?

Recently, someone telegrammed me about a recruiting message on TNP that he said violated the 15-line limit. From my browser (at a size covering most of the screen), it's no longer than 15 lines. So my question is...from what browser size is the 15-line limit?

I don't know, but I thought I might mention that your sig is too long, it's supposed to be like 8 lines, so you might wanna fix it before the mods do (they tend to just go delete everything...) :)

His sig looks fine in my browser window. ;)

In any case, I'm not aware of any particular standard for what type of monitor or browser size is used to judge the 15 lines. Perhaps a Game Mod could enlighten us on that.

Since NationStates hasn't officially imposed a 15 line limit, we're not going to have much to say here officially. That limit is set by certain regions, who have every right to define and enforce what is posted on their boards, so long as they don't violate our rules.

Unofficially, I'd use a 1024 x 768 screen as my basis. That's still standard for many laptops. Equally unofficially, I'd strongly recommend that you figure out how to shorten your ad. People who fill a lot of space with lines of asterisks or pound marks are producing annoying spam, in my opinion. If you want results, find a short, clever selling point and change it periodically.

We tolerate adspam because it's a compromise agreement between feeder and non-feeder players. If you want to be a good netizen, you'll find a way to achieve your goal without pissing off your fellow players. That's going to involve some compromises on your part, and that's only fair.

Any further conversations on this subject should be via telegram with the player who advised you of the problem. It's not a moderation question.

Just as a hint, a good way to trim the length of your ad is to ditch the insulting and unecessary directions on how to change regions. Besides, do you really want people who can't figure out that minor detail?

Yeah, we already do that; having the patience to read the ad and the ability to move to our region function as intelligence screening.
