Is it illegal to create a series of puppets pretending to hold various beliefs some of which you hold and some of which you don't? I thought this would be essentially what HerPower did or various others?

I can't remember where I saw it and it isn't in the OSRS, but I could've sworn I once saw something that went along the lines of it's ok to have multiple puppets with multiple opinions, so long as you don't have your puppets arguing against each other.

Doesn't that make the person a little on the schizophrenic side?

And a reminder that trolling (posting simply to get a reaction) is, as always, against the rules.

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you're saying the answer is. Are you agreeing with the second post?

And what kind of reaction? Meaning... if I'm posting as an intellectual excercise to take up a position I don't really hold, I can just say this and carry out the excercise. However, if I generate a persona of an some on the extreme side of the spectrum constantly arguing for a particular mindset, wouldn't the purpose of the persona be to get a reaction? Otherwise, why not just debate the side intellectually without the false persona?

EDIT: Honestly, I've always been a little foggy on the rules of trolling. Sometimes it seems like creating a person who doesn't believe a particular extreme view is illegal a la JesusSaves and HerPower, compounded instances where people have been accused of trolling and the mod reaction has been that the belief seems sincere, and other times it seems like it's only based on how enflaming the posts, threads and persona are.

It's probably a little subjective. There's the obvious, like starting a thread titled: "Nation X is full of gits." Then there's the not so obvious. I imagine the mods have to make a judgement based on a series of posts/ threads started by the suspected troll.

Edit: That's my take on the rules, anyway.

Hey now, HerPower did believe what she was saying. I just happen not to be that insane ALL the time.

And I think this is the reason for this thread, is it not?

I think trolling re: puppeteering is when you pretend to hold a position that isn't your own where the only reason for holding that position is to get the reaction. It would just be like you going into the forums and saying "let's kill all the Jews"...only with a nation called Aibacoj. Under a brand spanking new account, it would likely be deleted. Under an account where this position is known....actually it still probably would've been deleted if it used that exact wording, but if it toned it down for a discussion purpose, it might be allowed to slide. Your account, the mods know it's not your position and that you're just looking for the anti-Nazi's to start flaming you and you'd get blown away.

As usual, Forgottenlands has said it all. But, for entertainment value, Jocabia, check out the UN forum with that in mind. There are several posters whose UN nation's views are directly opposite to those of their puppets. As some prefer to keep the contrast to themselves, I won't list them, but often it's made clear.

Most consider it bad etiquette to have their recalcitrant puppet argue in the same thread as their main nation. (Unless, of course, your bad guy puppet defenestrates your good guy puppet.)

HAH! I knew Cluich would come to a sticky end one day!

Kat, you'd do that for me? When it's only a week since I tried to cheat you out of your boots? I am so impressed by your generosity, I've made you some scones and cream.

And of course, if you run out of jam, well, Cluich's already in one ...

It's only understandable that my boots should be coveted to the point of temporary insanity. MMMM, scones and clotted cream -- all is forgiven!

As for the original gist of the thread: Jocabia, I understand what you're asking and I'm keeping an eye on it.
