Yeah. I was banned because my sister and I both access the same computer, and were both members of the United Nations, and because the IP Address was the same, we were both banned for having two nations in the UN. We appealed to get back in, but to no avail. Now I will never be a member, but it is no problem. Chillax. Have fun with not being a member. RP it. Make up an IC reason for being banned or say your country decided to leave on its own. Play around with it.
my original Nation was. and no, while it wasn't totally my fault, I did unknowingly break the rules.
if they do change the rules (say, making the ban temp for first time offenders) then fine. But I'm not gonna push for any changes.

The United Nations is getting much tougher on people who break the "one player, one UN member nation" rule. If you have been ejected from the UN, warned, or deleted, this explains why.
Q: I didn't know it was against the rules to have multiple UN member nations.
A: It is mentioned in the FAQ (see: "United Nations"). Also, when you receive your invitation e-mail from the UN, it clearly spells out the penalties for breaching this rule. Not paying attention to this is not an excuse.
Q: I wasn't cheating! I only have one UN member nation. Your game got it wrong.
A: This is possible, but unlikely. The game uses four different methods to detect if the same person is operating multiple UN members. These methods include IP address tracking and login pattern detection. If your nation was deleted, the game gathered very strong evidence that it was being operated from the same location as other UN members on multiple occasions.
Q: My friends operate those other UN member nations. We all share the same computer.
A: I'm sorry if that's the case. There is no way for the game to tell how many people are on the other end of a computer. For this reason, breaches of UN rules involving only two members are usually punished with expulsion, not deletion.
However, please note this important point: we cannot take your word on how many people are really behind your computer. This is not because you are untrustworthy, it's simply that otherwise there is no way to enforce the UN rules.
Q: But that's not fair!
A: True, and again, I'm sorry if you and your friends have been punished unjustly. However, this is the closest we can come to fair. If we accepted people's explanations that they were using a public computer with their friends, we would have to let people create as many UN nations as they like. This would destroy the whole point of the UN.
The line has to be drawn somewhere, and thus, fair or not, the rule must stand.
Oh and get a Mod to move this to either UN or Moderation, that is IF they dont close it.
I demand change!
OOC: You can "demand" all you like. You're playing a free game here: you have no "rights" other than those Max kindly allows you. You play by the rules, and be grateful for it, or you don't play. You have no "rights", and you are in no position to make any "demands".

Thread was moved from NationStates to Moderation.
Technically, that's a change, innit?
I've been recently ejected from the UN, apparently for repeat offences. I've no idea what the offences are as I've never operated more than one country and never broken any of the rules that I agreed wto when I signed up.
I've emailed the admins but unfortunately have had no response. I know this is a free game so my 'rights' are somewhat limited but I'm very disappointed at the game admins lack of manners in not responding not to mention their error in the first place.
I guess you get what you pay for, in this case nothing...

You are technically correct. The best kind of correct. I'm promoting you to Bureaucrat Grade 36.

We have a Getting Help system for this sort of complaint. It's clearly listed in the FAQ, in the One Stop Rules Shop, and in multiple other places around the forums. You haven't used it. Your complaint is analogous to writing the manufacturer when the sales clerk didn't give you correct change.
We're not psychic. File a Getting Help request and we'll look into your complaint. That's a job for mods, not the admins who write the code.

For goodness sake, I'm not psychic either and merely followed the instructions in the telegram I received, text as follows:
"For repeated offenses, you have been permanently banned from the United Nations. This is a permanent ruling and applies to all of your current and future nations. If you believe this ruling to be in error please either submit a request through the Getting Help Page or email Salusa@nationstates.net or admin@nationstates.net."
Rather than waste peoples (i.e. your) time by going through both the Getting Help pages and emailing the addresses you supplied I chose the email route. You'll note that it says 'either' and doesn't specify which is preferred.
Rather than coming up with arrogant analogies perhaps you should update you're own telegrams. Frankly I believe my earlier comments still stand.

Same thing here my cousin and I use the same email name. But we have completely different email service providers. We don't even share a computer. I explained the situation but I was eventually barred from posting a complaint in the "Getting Help" page. I don't cheat or anything but these overprotective policies are ridiculous. Those biased "moderators" troll the UN for supposed "violators" is pointless. Yes there will be cheaters. But UN cheaters is not a priority for the moderators. I have seen other nations and my own nation hacked into and assumed control of a totally unknown nation. They moved me a different region and exploited my country. That is cheating! I requested help from the "moderators". But to no avail there was no assistance! I fought for three long weeks to beat those devilish hackers! Finally battle weary I assumed control. But then I get a dumb message saying I was barred from the UN!.
In conclusion, the UN does not do anything pertinent to the world. It is a silly figurehead, a symbol of false status, a big load of nothing that puts out big loads of nothing. So I say DOWN WITH THE UN! :mp5:
Its so egalitarian I had a significant amount of endorsements. But my proposals were always ignored or deleted. However only these "popular", "old guard", and "superpower" UN nations who submitted proposals about stupidity and just plain nonsensical rhetoric. Everyday I had to vote for this garbled rhetoric. Yet I did my job to the fullest in the UN! But to be barred on menial and false "violations" is just plain henpecking.
Lastly, I am gradually accepting my fate as a fallen UN nation. Our nation is strong we will survive this. But these laws are ridiculous. I cannot stand by and see young nations and old nations hacked by avariced power hungry nations while the "moderators" go on these pretentious and petty witch hunts to send us good guys to the gallows. Many say no big deal but its a big deal here. A righteous, honest, fair nation being punished for a pointless misdemeanor while watching delibrate violations occuring on a daily basis.
DOWN WITH THE DASTARDLY UN DYNASTY!:upyours:
LONG LIVE THE FREE NATIONS DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE UN! ITS NOTHING!
HAIL THE BARRED NATIONS!

Look at it this way. If there was an easy work around to the policy, people would exploit it. Not to be asses (mostly), but because they can. Keep in mind, anyone can make up any excuse. The mods have no way to verify.
It's a small part of the game anyway. The real fun is in the RP (or general:P). Another poster mentioned ways to work it into your RP. Try that.
Just have fun. This isn't serious business.

That's a legitimate comment, and I've taken it up with the admins for correction. That telegram doesn't see much use, and I doubt we realized it still had that text in it.
Can't say I much care for the 'arrogant analogies' comment, though. It wasn't meant that way.
You've been told what to do. You'll get a lot further if you actually do it.
And he did it, and it was resolved in his favor quickly. As you've seen, his complaint still had a valid component.

I had already followed their instructions to the letter. My ejection was confirmed by the mods to have been an error, the mods admitted that the telegram I received was an old one and needed updating and as far as that was concerned it was all over and sorted especially since when the mods realized what had happened it was sorted in about 2 hours.
I don't like getting sarky comments complaining about not following instructions when I already had and Frisbeeteria's comments came across that way to me but then at that point Frisbeeteria didn't know what had happened so I would like to withdraw that comment!
