Come now, Fass. I've posted that at least a dozen times, if not more, in the year and a half I've been a member here, and no one's ever had a problem with it. It's just cheesy special effects from a movie in the early '80s. If it's offensive, that's your problem really. As for obscene? I have no clue how you can think that.

i've seen worse stuff in the news
LAWL@Fass.
That's special effects from the movie Scanners.
And yeah it's been posted a million times.

Not offended at all.

It's not "offensive" but it's incredibly graphic. You would normally only see this sort of stuff in an 18/X - rated movie, i'm not sure if you can get any more graphic then a head exploding. Absolutely not pg-13.

SAID SOMEONE WHO POSTED IN IT TOO
You, and many others, were commenting on the original topic, something which was prohibited in the first post. I was reinforcing this prohibition, bringing it to the attention of the thread. I worry for you if the difference is not immediately obvious.
That being said, “Mods Only” means “Mods Only” is to be adhered to. Granted, my posts are most likely not entirely welcome either, as they somewhat cloud the thread’s purpose, they are necessary, in the absence of similar posts from a Moderator, to bring light to the intentions of the OP, and the rules of this forum. Your original post, followed up by a post of equally deficient value, is not welcome.

Meh. I don't have any mental scars from viewing that.

Enough already! I specifically wrote "Mods only, please" and the rules are quite clear on this:
"Mods Only": Players may request that only moderators or admins respond to threads in Moderation. Players should not respond in these threads. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8784654&postcount=5)
So, if you are not a moderator, or are not the poster whose post was reported, kindly do not post in this thread. Rule breaking in moderation is not a smart thing to do, and the reason I asked for "mods only" is that the opinions of the usual peanut gallery are not relevant to me in the least.

Cluichstan, how many times do we have to say "this is your FINAL warning" before you change you habits? We've had entirely enough of your image spam, and I'm not going to be polite and warn you any more. Change your posting habits to not include image spam, PARTICULARLY animated gifs, or be deleted. It's that simple.
As for the rest of you, when somebody posts "Mods Only", you will respect it or you WILL be forumbanned for one to 3 days. Imperial isa, this is specifically addressed at you, as you alone seemed to find it necessary to break the prohibition four times.
Utracia, this isn't General. The only ones who might need clarification are mods, the reporter, and the accused. You are none of these. Butt out.
Steel Butterfly, the fact that we may let a topic sit for a few hours doesn't mean we can't manage to police our own forum. Fassigen was justified in pointing this out. You were not.
Post deleted.

My apologies, Fris. I figured someone needed to point it out. My mistake in thinking that person should have been me.

Not trying to be an asshat here at all, but I would like some clarification so that I can be sure I'm not breaking any rules from now on. At what point does posting an image cross the line into the Spam Zone? Also, is it just a matter of what is posted, or is how often one posts images also part of the equation?
Per Fass's request, mods only, please.

In your case, pretty much any image that's posted as your primary reply is likely to be spam. This is not necessarily the case for other players, but you have been abusing images for months now. Like all mod decisions, it's necessarily based on a judgment call, and my judgment is that you are heavily prone to image spam and (supposedly) IC abuse posts. Given your history, you're on a much shorter leash than most people.
The fact that we get reports quite often asking us to look into your posts should be something of a hint. Most players don't require that level of scrutiny. You like playing on the edge of the rules, so don't be surprised when you fall over the cliff.

That's been my posting style -- posting a funny pic when appropriate (and admittedly, sometimes when it's tangential) -- on internet forums for years. Not accepted here? Fine. I'll knock it off. Interesting, though, that the rules vary from player to player here.

If that's the definition of image spam, then, yes, I suppose I am. Again, I'll knock it off.
As for the reference to the "abuse posts," those are all IC. I have nothing personal against anyone here. I believe you're referring to my UN character, who is, admittedly, a prick, though he's no less of a prick than some of the other characters that frequent the UN forum, so I find it odd that I get singled out.

Accepted, but at some point doesn't history become just that -- history?
The fact that we get reports quite often asking us to look into your posts should be something of a hint.
Actually, I think you might want to look at who is consistently reporting my posts as well. I'd be perfectly happy to discuss that with you off-forum, Fris, if you like (in fact, I'd actually very much like to do so, just to clear a few things up), but this is really not the place to dredge up that sorta stuff.
Most players don't require that level of scrutiny. You like playing on the edge of the rules, so don't be surprised when you fall over the cliff.
I'll readily admit, I do often skirt the edge, which is why I asked for clarification of the rules on image spam (frankly, this is one of the strictest boards I've ever been on, when it comes to tolerance of random silliness). I wanted to know where that edge is, so I don't fall over the cliff. I enjoy this game and interacting with many of the others who play it. I'd hate to do something that would ruin that for me.

Interesting, though, that the rules vary from player to player here.I think it's a matter of perception, Cluich. You can post silly things without a second glance (ie: "What's your favorite Decepticon?"), but the problem is when an image is the only thing posted, especially when it's not related (again, "Posting because this thread doesn't have any Hoff yet"). To crib from an admin on another site I frequent:
This forum is not turning into a damned fark.com discussion thread. There's no reason to start posting all those 'clever' pictures instead of actual text. In fact, that won't be tolerated in here... it sucks space, sucks bandwidth, sucks the life out of the conversation, and just plain sucks.Obviously, their rules are not ours, but perhaps it should be kept in mind when thinking of posting just an image and nothing else.

Trust me. You aren't the only person centered in my reticle.
Obnoxious characters are one thing, but there seems to be a bit of bleed-through going on. No, it's not just you.

Hey, you participated in that thread. :p
...but the problem is when an image is the only thing posted, especially when it's not related (again, "Posting because this thread doesn't have any Hoff yet").
I did that once, as a joke in a thread asking for confessions. I believe the exact post went something along these lines: "I confess I'm just posting here because this thread has no Hoff" or something to that effect (plus a single, relatively small image). Frankly, I find it a bit absurd that it seems to have generated such a backlash. It's not as though I went running willy-nilly through every thread I could find and posted, "You've got no Hoff, so here's a pic." It was one post.

I'm not aware of any bleed-through. There certainly isn't any on my part. The NSUN is a game. It's roleplaying. I, the player, take none of it personally. If others are, be it due to my posts or others', well, that's just plain silly. As I said, anything I post in the UN forum that is signed by Sheik Nadnerb is just RP, just as I assume everyone else's IC posts to be. Let's face it, if all of the UN ambassadors behaved like Care Bears, it'd be a pretty boring place. ;)

Not asking for a love-in, just less sniping. However, the UN issues are different than the pictures.
