Even half-wishing death on anyone due to a difference in political beliefs is an assholish thing to do. Sorry, Dai, but the shoe seems to fit on this one. Replace "asshole" with "jerk" or "mean-spirited person" and it says the exact same thing and all seem to be equally applicable in this case.

Your statement itself nears flamebaiting because it practically demands that sort of response, along with insipid agreements. Given that on a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of increasing severity both of these are around a 2 I'm just going to call it even.

I think you'd be better off just leaving it. Perhaps a Primary school teacher would tell a ten year old not to say it, but seriously, on an adult political debate site? All you're going to get is someone telling you to grow a skin.

Actually, I thought Daistallia was quite clear when he stated that he wanted another mod to offer an opinion... as far as I recall, gents, neither of you qualify.

Maybe you didn't explain yourself well in the original post. I certainly thought, looking at it in isolation, that you were wishing death on another person -- and it's not something that I find particularly appetizing.

That said, I think far too much was made of the original complaint, and honestly, even more of the attempt to explain it to you. The language in the original post was harsh, but we've all heard worse, and said worse.

If it's part of a pattern where people are being disrespectful to you, let us know and we'll sort it, certainly.

I'm not the biggest Scolopendra fan around and I didn't find that post to be a flame. I think you ought to take the advice of several people who've posted to this thread and just drop it.
