Perhaps we need clearly rules about sex talk
The rules seem to vary from day to day. For example, my thread "Why do we use oral sex to mean we don't care" could've past on some days. Other days it couldn't have. Some days people get away with talking about porn, other days they don't. Maybe it would be helpful to have clearer rules?
Is this the right forum for this? It's hard to figure out...

This would be the correct forum to discuss rules and suggestions pertaining thereto, yes.
The rules actually do have fairly explicit standards, in some senses:
Obscene and Explicit Content: Sexually graphic images and posts, and violent images such as bloody corpses. Very strictly forbidden. Obscene imagery and content in the forums should be reported to the Moderation Forum. Please provide a link to the topic, but do not quote it while explaining its illegality. Then we have to find and delete your posts too.
The standard for both forums and game is the US movie rating "PG-13". Mild swearing may be tolerated, mild sexuality may be hinted, but explicit or excessive versions of either or both may result in proportional mod response.
The rules also prohibit linking to pornographic sites, etc.
It is true that what constitutes 'PG-13', 'TV-14', or similar maturity ratings is not precisely explicit in RL, but most material is fairly easy to make a judgement call on based on that threshold.
Yeah, PG-13 varies by mod. I guess we should just get used to it.

The rules are fairly clear, and if someone's unsure, we just ask each other. The real problem is having people that are reading all the threads that started off that way or devolved into such discussion on a regular basis when we're all trying to live our lives. Just because we don't notice it and it continues until it naturally dies off doesn't mean it was acceptable in the first place.
Also, discussion about porn and other matters isn't absolutely forbidden, it's when it crosses the line into the obscene/PG-13 area. Quite often with pictures/descriptions.
