Image Issues for Newer Members?

Since the discussion in the thread here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=516011) got derailed by spam before I saw it (not active here on the weekends very often), I thought the mods might want to know that the original poster there is probably experiencing something I've noticed with one of my puppets. When I've tried to post images with it, instead of the images appearing in the post, I get links instead. I've heard others say the same thing, and perhaps it may have something to do with the nations or puppets having registered relatively recently?

Well... he has 74 posts. Don't know how many he had at the start, but I think the cut-off was supposed to be 10.
Then again... "supposed"...

I was still having problems with the aforementioned puppet after 10 posts. Seems to be on more of a timer thing now. I'll have to check when I registered the puppet here on jolt, but apparently it's been long enough that images are okay. *shrug* Just something I thought the mods might want to check into.

If it's a timer thing... well, Jolt has known forum timer issues. Best response you can get from my non-technical understanding of the situation is "it'll work when the wonky relational structure of its programming says it does."

That's what I kinda figured. It only happened for a while when I'd first registered the puppet nation. After a bit, I was able to post images with no problem. I was merely suggesting that perhaps the issue from the previous thread had nothing to do with the images the OPer was trying to post, but that he only registered recently and was, therefore, subject to some sort of jolt timer.

I noticed a problem with image linking from my photobucket account, in that the image linked has to end in the image tag, not the numbers following it. Took me a bit to figure out, but once I removed the fluff at the end, the image showed correctly, and not as a link.
Offered on the off-hand chance something similar has happened with this case.

That was not the source of the problem I experienced. May have been with the OPer from the other thread, but... *shrug*

Images break if you use the pop-up edit window that appears when you click edit / delete. If you click 'go advanced' and then enter the post that way, they'll work.
It also seems that occasionally linking images from the free hosting sites (Photobucket, Imageshack, etc.) yields links rather than images; that could be because they're displayed as images within a non-image website rather than as standalone images, or something like that. Probably one could easily figure it out by extracting the source.
Not sure how helpful I am, though.

But when I was having that issue with my puppet, it wasn't just the free hosting sites.

Russiane appeared to have confused Jolt server problems with the moderators 'blocking his posts.' See http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=12259293#post12259293 : the two deleted posts in this thread were complaining about either the moderated posts bug or a server problem. The Iron Cross in http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12259293&postcount=7 seems to display perfectly ok. Since it's linked from someone else's site, though, it may be a less disgusting version of those anti-bandwidth-stealing images used by sites like somethingawful; in other words, it may block direct-linking above a certain point.
The post there by Damarna is an edited post with a broken image tag as a result, an example of the problem I was talking about before.
As said, if the in-thread edit window is used on a post containing an tagged item, it will appear as a link when the edit is confirmed. Using the 'go advanced' button will fix the [img] tags and make the images appear again. Deleting and replacing them in the advanced edit window might help this, too. Behold, an image that works.
