Hi,

Someone has created a nation with my full name as its title. I feel that this is improper use of my personal details, and I'd like to know if anything can be done to correct it. Link to the offending nation: <link removed> At the very least, I'd like to know the e-mail address of the offender so that I can take it further personally.

For privacy reasons, this is the sort of thing that should be sent via Getting Help.

Despite that, I investigated anyway and found evidence that it was clearly intended to be malicious. Nation deleted, puppetmaster warned.

We do not violate player privacy by giving out other people's email addresses. Sorry.

Evidence? What sort of evidence? And who was the puppetmaster?

Sorry, we don't reveal our methods, and I've already told you that privacy dictates policy here. You didn't want someone using your name, but you think it's fair to turn around and ask for theirs? Think it through, Makaar. The same rules that protect you must also protect them, or they're meaningless.

Suffice to say that stern warnings were attached to the puppetmaster and his/her many other puppets. Should s/he get out of line again, his/her NationStates experience will diminish rapidly.

I think it's fair that I know the name of the nation who operates these puppets. My own privacy is at stake. I know it seems like I've proven that my privacy means nothing to me, but believe me, I give out my details very rarely, especially not to people on these forums (er, no offense). I'm only asking for the name of the nation - no personal details, just to see if I know the person doing it.

Either way, I'll leave it at this.

Our privacy policy is quite clear on this. Having that player's current puppets won't help you at all, unless you intend to counter-harass him/her. That's equally against the rules.

We'll be glad to manage any future efforts that are needed to keep this player in line, as that is the job of site moderators, not players. We have the tools and the abilities necessary to deal with such situations, and that's the end of it.
