About a year and four months ago, I set up an nation called Spartiala and posted somewhat regularly in the forums. After a few months, I decided that I was spending too much time on NS and made a point of not visiting the site for a while. After about a month I decided to sign back in again to see what was going on around here and got a message saying I had been permanently banned with no reason specified. I thought this was pretty strange, but since I didn't really want to post in the forums anyway I didn't make a big deal about it.

Since then, I've set up a new nation called Andy L, and have been using it to view the forums from the computer labs at my university (I can't view them from home because the forum recognizes my IP address and won't let me in). I haven't posted at all as Andy L, and yet about fifteen minutes ago I tried signing in and was informed that I had been banned permanently, again with no reason specified.

Why is this happening to me? Is there some sort of policy that anyone who doesn't post for a while gets permanently banned? Is there some sort of mistake? Is there some evil mod who hates me and doesn't want me around anymore?

Nations that have not been logged into are automatically deleted after a month.

And the forum accounts for deleted nations are automatically permabanned.

As a result, you have to log into your nation more often if you want to keep a forum account here.

I think that probably explains why your forum accounts are being banned.

Do you bother actually logging on to your Nation page often enough to keep it from timing out, being as viewing the forums does not keep your Nation alive? 28 days if I remember correctly, and if you timed out, you can request a revival through the Getting Help page (see sig). You can prolong the time to 45 days (if I remember right) by putting your nation in vacation mode.

Still have to log into it now and then, though.

What? Why? What possible good could that do? Now, just because I started an account and let it lapse, I can never again access NS from my home computer?

You should be able to, simply by using that computer to create a new nation and post with its forum account.

Or alternatively, you could do as Nathi suggested and request your old nation's resurrection via the Getting Help page. The ban on that nation's forum account should be lifted automatically.
