Flame-bait? Plus a question...

I'm a bit unclear about what is and is not flame-baiting/griefing/harrasment, so I'm sorry if I'm wrong to draw mod attention to this matter.

This thread (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=508966) appears to have been made simply to provoke another poster.

This post (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12014449&postcount=15) and this one (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12015191&postcount=16) further indicate that the whole purpose of the thread is to provoke a reaction from another poster.

While I'm here, can a mod please clarify what the rules are in regards to 'troll accusations' in thread (ie outside moderation)? Are accusations of trolling ok in all cases, are they completely off-limits (other than in moderation) or are they ok in some cases but cross the line in others....if the last, what kind of guidelines should posters have in mind when trying to determine ok behaviour from behaviour that crosses the line?

That does not look like flamebaiting to me. Just looks like a guy wanting MtaE in particular to respond to his idea.

If his bumping seems excessive I will address that, but otherwise that thread looks fine.

The relevant rules are clarified nicely in the One-Stop Rules Shop.

If a poster is breaking the rules in their interactions with those they consider trolls (ie. flaming, baiting, harassing) then you can safely say that the line is being crossed.

Ultimately, if you think someone is a troll, you should not be going around responding to their posts or discussing them and giving them more attention anyway.
