I can't tell if there's a rule against this...

Linking to Fred Phelps' sites is generally a bad idea around here. I don't know how kindly the mods take to displaying his and his cronies' addresses in threads.

It might not be against the rules, just a generally bad idea...but I am posting this because I am not sure.

Great minds like a think... I was just about to post this one too, with the same gist.

As far as I can tell it's not breaking the rules. Anyone mind showing me where in the rules it says anything about displaying addresses?

It didn't have anything to do with addresses; it had to do with the fact that it was Fred Phelps' church. I know links to his sites are forbidden; for me, this was more of a gray area than anything else. The mods seem to have come down on the side that says it's not cool, so that's fine; an explanation would be nice simply to clarify what rule was broken since even I don't understand what rule was broken.

EDITED TO ADD: Fris beet me to it.

In the FAQ under 'harassment' and 'encouraging illegal activites'. Your disclaimer that 'you weren't suggesting anything' was specious at best.

Hmm? I was linking to his site? I saw no link to his site in my post.

Hey, I wasn't. I was providing information for those who want it. What they do with it is no business of mine.

In a word, bullshit.

Nobody asked you for that information. Your implication was quite clearly "if you want to harass these people, here's how". Don't take us for fools.

What I didn't say isn't the issue. I never told people to go out and do things with this. If I did, then I believe that would be appropriate for a banning. But, as you can tell, I didn't say anything. I don't think you can do anything if I didn't say anything. Even if I did imply something, I don't think anything can be done if I didn't say to harass them with the information.

Your pathetic attempts at ass covering aren't going to fly. We're not idiots, so please don't continue to offer your sorry excuses. And if you honestly and truly feel this way, then you are so horribly naive that it's a wonder you've survived this long.

Quit while you're just in the hole. Don't go piling dirt on top of yourself.
