Why would you need the past tense? You're talking about a current action.
If you were talking about a gravedig that happened, say, six months ago, then you might be able to say "so and so gravedug that thread," I suppose.

Well, it's back now. It seems the poster in question is determined to answer questions from a previous incarnation. It's gravedigging of the "you'll be waiting a long time for a reply, that poster left" kind.
