This topic (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=506115) has taken a turn for the worse, and the discussion is now centered on whether rape is an acceptable interrogation technique. I'm not sure if arguing in favor of such a position is against forum rules, and I don't want to commit such a transgression. Is the topic fine as it is or should that particular line of conversation be closed?

Actually, considering the main problem in the topic is YOU, the thread should not be closed, YOU should be forumbanned if the thread is to be closed because of what you started. And fixed for accuracy.

I didn't start it (someone asked me whether I agreed with the concept or not, and I defended it). Also, I asked this question precisely because I want to follow forum rules so I won't be banned.

Promoting illegal activity: Don't start threads describing the best way to get away with murder, rape, child abuse, software piracy, bombing the UN, killing the President, or anything of that nature. We don't find it amusing, and it puts the forums at risk. Such threads will be deleted. Egregious posters of such may be banned, deleted, or even have their ISP contacted. We shouldn't have to spell this out, but apparently we do.

My emphasis.

It's not that he took a distasteful stance in that thread, it's that he takes a distasteful stance at every opportunity. He's yet to draw the line anywhere. He should be banned as a troll.

I didn't start it (someone rhetorically asked me whether I agreed with the concept or not, and I defended it). Also, I asked this question precisely because I want to follow forum rules so I won't be banned for spouting psychopatic crap.

You're a piece of work, Means.

MeansToAnEnd, your repeated trolling will get you a 3-day ban. If you aren't sure if it's acceptable to post on a topic, just don't.

Heikoku, your even more frequently repeated flaming and baiting will get you a 14-day ban. Given your history, you will probably be losing your nation on the next offense.
