Ny Nordland was invited to try again less provocatively.

I hope it was worth it to Naliitr as he's been banned before for flaming and will now need a new nation, since he obviously did it fully intending to be banned again.

Ouch... On both counts. While I doubt many people have love for Ny Nordland, still yeah that was bannable.

out of curiousity, would what Natilir did be considered Suicied by mod? since it was done with the expecation of mod action being taken?

I don't think it was suicide by mod. However, it certainly was not well thought out.

Too bad. Prior to the incident it seemed like nallitr was actually coming around and trying to be more civil than in prior incarnations. Im not saying he didnt need banning for this or second guessing or criticising Kat or other mods in the slightest. I'm just saying too bad is all. He was showing promise so I guess I was silently pulling for him to make it this time.

Perhaps in his next incarnation.

This is the first time I've come in here asking about a mod decision, but Naliitr's ban completely took me by surprise.

I saw his post right when he posted and just rolled my eyes at the fact that he seemed to think he would get banned for it - I thought he was greatly overestimating his daringness. What he said (sans the "yay, I'm gonna get banned for this") would absolutely be something I'd say in a case like this. Not the most benign thing possible, but then it's neither a benign thread nor a benign OP.

So I guess I'm being thick but where's the flame in this?

Yes, it's mildish. Given his history of getting banned for flaming, to announce he is doing something that will get him banned just tells us there's no respect for the rules and he knew he was breaking them and didn't care. When you've been given two week-long bans to begin with, this kind of behavior shows us that perhaps you need the, "We are serious about proper behavior, chum," treatment.
