I really don't want to be the PG-13 censor here, although it seems to be what I am doing lately, but I happen to agree with the rule... especially as this site DOES go to schools and we should be a little careful... but anyway, here is another off-color title.

Not arguing, but really? Anal and Blowjob are ok in a title but Slut (the title change that got us all into this round of PG-13ness) is not?

Keep in mind that I didn't have a problem with that title either. I've heard much worse than "slutty" in PG-13 material.

Oh, I completely agree with you there, I thought slut was a rather vanilla term to have censored... and I have no kids myself, but I guess I sort of think of PG-13 as the level of information that I don't feel it is appropriate to try to explain to someone else's 13 year old. I am perfectly fine with things like homosexuality, the currently posted topic of asexuality, and such, but I think the specific mechanics of anal sex and blowjobs may be a bit much for a kid of that age.

That's actually part of the difficulty in Moderating this sort of thing. It requires that sort of appeal to personal or family-related standards, which are dependent on our individual backgrounds. As a result, one Mod may find something over the top and another might not.

I would have no problem mentioning those things in conversation with a 13 year old, especially considering that most 13 year olds know as much about it as I do, or will at least have heard the terms before.

You make a valid point! :D Several, actually. I know you guys (and girls... what is the male/female ratio of Mods anyway?) all do the best you can based on your own takes on things, which is often what makes it interesting to keep reading threads here in moderation.

And kids do know a lot, but I will leave it to you to discuss positions with them, while I stick to somewhat more generalities. :)

Here's the deal.

The front page of General typically has less than an hour's worth of topics on it. We don't have a moderation schedule that checks every title in every forum every 1/2 hour. We depend on people reporting rulebreaking threads / posts / titles. If I'd seen Anal and Blowjob in titles, I'd have probably changed them. I imagine most of us would. However, since I don't visit General more than once every few days except in response to reported posts, they're gonna slip by me.

We're neither omniscient nor omnipresent. Don't assume that something slipping past our review automatically equals "permission".

Oh, I don't assume that! Which is also why I started this thread... because I know you all rely on us to mention things if we feel they need mentioning... then got into this interesting discussion with HotRodia about it. :)
