I looked at the thread and find the image to be taken down.

While he shouldn't have used it without asking in the first place, it was taken down after request, so I don't see that any action is necessary by the moderators. We're very pleased that you too sorted it out yourselves.

Please dont take this as questioning of your ruling but I dont exactly feel sastified. As the holder of the rights to the image, a work which was modified twice (first to its current form, and then black filled) before removal shows an unrepentant heart.

I admit that yes the image was removed, but the fact that he did it only after I posted, and not when he was originally 'caught' is somewhat questionable on his part.

The fact he then immeadiately opened up a post removal request thread directly below this thread to remove such evidence (includeing a request to remove all posts before mine) is also one I would also consider highly questionable.

But I am not a moderator or an Admin and thus can only state my opinion. My appologies for taking up your time.

If I may be allowed to defend myself,

I didn't know I was doing anything wrong, seeing as I had edited the image myself and not just copied and pasted a link directly into my storefront. I didn't delete the image immediately because I was seeking the opinions of some of my friends, all of whom thought it was alright because it was just a picture and it had been edited. Then, as more people began to protest, I decided to take the diplomatic route and remove the image.

As I thought the whole situation over, I realized that I really should have made my own picture from scratch or asked someone to make one for me. So, after deleting the image from the thread, I wrote an apology TG to Mekugi (which I hope he has read by now). Mekugi's tone in the preceding post indicates that he probably hasn't read the apology letter yet, but I really don't know. I've also put up a request on the NSDraftroom for someone who is willing to design a picture for me.

I wanted the complaint posts in my storefront deleted because they were clogging it and distracting from the topic of the thread.

Does that make things a bit clearer? And I am sorry.

I'm sorry that you don't feel satisfied by the ruling, but I really don't see how punishing him would accomplish anything. The situation has been fixed by you two, even if it took some back and forth. This is how it should be handled and as moderators it is our job to interfere only when the posters aren't mature enough to handle the situation (or the forums) themselves. That doesn't seem to be the case here so I would much prefer for you two to work this out yourselves.

For that matter, while I haven't decided what should be done with those posts in the thread, since the situation has been resolved and they are no longer part of the storefront, it isn't unreasonable for him to want them removed.

Give us a little credit for cleverness. Posts have been removed, but not destroyed. If there is any further fallout on this (and there shouldn't be), we've still got the 'evidence'.

I believe we're done here.

In terms of actual copyright ownership, you were indeed doing something wrong; without the permission of the originator of the work in question, you may not produce derivative works from that work. The best approach to such things is to ask the person who created the original image if you can use or modify it.
