Mass Ejections

So I log in today to check the usual issue and check on the UN vote, and find that all the members except two are ejected from the region im in (The Land of Nonsense). So this leads me to the conclusion that either:

A) NationStates's anti-MoreThenOneNationInTheUN detector is NOT doing its job correctly.

B) Some jerk mod took a look at our region and went on a kicking spree.

C) Since many of my friends have logged in on my computer you guys are just
looking at recent IPs and banned us all.

D) Some kind of update messed with the UN.

Basically, it doesnt matter what happened, but there is no legit reason why we all got the boot. If there is any solid evidence why we all deserve to be kicked out then I'd like to see it.

Since we cannot tell who is sitting at the keyboard at any given time, it has long been site policy that multiple UN nations from the same computer are not permitted. Please read "Ejected from the UN? Here's why" in the NS Moderation forum for the Admin's official ruling on shared computers.

See but thats why this is all sketchy to me. The last time everyone logged on my computer was over two weeks ago. Besides from my brother (who mind you shares a common router with me, routers have the same IP) it has just been me logging in a few times a day. So how is it that it takes two weeks to get around to things? It all seems a little off to me.

EDIT: Now that I think about it a few of those people never even logged onto my computer. It seems they were banned for no reason at all.

2nd EDIT: Sorry just a few things to get off my mind before hitting the sack. I mean if you're gonna go ahead and ban people from their IPs I see where you're getting at. Sorry to be mean but this seems way to rediculous. I mean its like do you not notice how they all log in on the same IP once vs the hundreds of other logins on othe IPs? Just come on and use your brain! Are you expecting someone like me to log each nation in on a different computer and accidently slip up once? Who the h*ll would have the time for that? Just use some logic, its like I've had this nation for four months (yeah I know some of you guys have had yours for years) but four months is still a long time I am not going to start over on a new nation just to be in the UN again because of a small mix up. Its just plain stupid.

Sorry to be mean but this seems way to rediculous.Tell you what. You pay for my plane flight, plus expenses, and I'll come on over and take a look to make sure that you're all legit.

The IP Check system is in place for a reason.

If you and your friends logged into the same computer on the same day, then yes, you will get in big big trouble for it. You have two options in this matter at this point in time.

You can keep complaining and never get your way
You can go and make a new nation and log it into the United Nations

Thats about the only things you can do, and i can assure you that number one will not get you anywhere.

The IP Check system is in place for a reason.

Shaz, I know you're trying to be helpful, but please don't refer to "The Cheatscan" as "The IP Check system". As we've explained over and over again, we check far more than IP addresses. Some people have a little bit of knowledge about IP addresses and come to entirely misguided conclusions about a) why we're screwing with them, b) how it works, and c) how to beat it. I've had to answer this several hundred times, and I'd rather not have the wrong idea perpetuated by a respected (but unofficial) member of the community.

Also, there's really no need for you to expand on the explanation once two different mods have responded in-topic. Once an official explanation has been given, leave future responses or ignores to the mods. Kibbitzing is not helpful.

Yes I see how logging in on one computer is bad now, but what I'm getting at is why we're banned when it:

A) Only happened once.

B) Was over two weeks ago.

C) When two nations were also ejected when they never even logged in on this computer.

And also to note: Why should I pay for a plane ticket for you to come out here. Is logging in hundreds of times on different IPs and only once on the same IP not enough evidence that we are infact seperate people? You guys arn't even taking the time to check the IP logins more then once. If you want to kick me out then at least review your decision as it was clearly made in haste and if you bothered to take five mintues to take a second look you'll see that we're all innocent. If a second look is not taken I think I will never log in on this website again. I dunno if you guys get some kind of money for having more members but I have recommended this site to dozens of people on how great is was, but now I think I will be unable to do that as the unfair system has made me loose faith.

We've seen two threads, three or four Getting Help requests, and endless whining about this. It's been reviewed not once, not twice, but by at least five different game mods. It was not one incident, and it was not just on one day. The evidence is strong enough that none of the five have overturned it.

If this level of animosity is indicative of your participation on our site, then it would not bother me in the least if you wandered away from this FREE game.

Calm down, chill out, and create new, non-shared UN nations. Or go away. I don't care which.

Yes I see how logging in on one computer is bad now, but what I'm getting at is why we're banned when it:

A) Only happened once.

Not according to the cheatscan. I'm looking at more than two dozen occasions on it.

B) Was over two weeks ago.

False. The most recent hit is dated September 2. Five days ago.

C) When two nations were also ejected when they never even logged in on this computer.

The cheatscan uses more than four different means of tracking UN multies. You never said which two supposedly never logged on to "this computer", so I can't look and see if they were part of the same "multi-ring" or if they were caught seperately.

And also to note: Why should I pay for a plane ticket for you to come out here. Is logging in hundreds of times on different IPs and only once on the same IP not enough evidence that we are infact seperate people?

Hack is essentially saying we can't trust your given word that multiple people play from one computer, because we cannot physically verify the fact. And as it has already been noted, IP addresses are NOT the only means we use to determine UN multies. Likewise, IP addresses alone cannot verify that someone is NOT a UN multi.

You guys arn't even taking the time to check the IP logins more then once. If you want to kick me out then at least review your decision as it was clearly made in haste and if you bothered to take five mintues to take a second look you'll see that we're all innocent.

You have appealed the ejection both here and via the Getting Help Page. Five moderators, myself included reviewed the case. You have already taken up more than a half hour combined of our time with your appeal and ongoing whining.

If a second look is not taken I think I will never log in on this website again.

Given the amount of trouble you are proving to be worth, I can honestly say the sooner, the better.

I dunno if you guys get some kind of money for having more members but I have recommended this site to dozens of people on how great is was, but now I think I will be unable to do that as the unfair system has made me loose faith.

What is this "money" that you speak of? Nationstates costs nothing to play, and Jolt certainly isn't paying us to slowly eat all their bandwidth. I'm sorry you've "lost faith" in our "unfair system", but it's the best we've got that doesn't just let real cheaters run rampant.

Now, you've whined repeatedly about this ejection, and had it explained to you in no uncertain terms. The nations involved will not be reinstated to the UN, and further complaining is not going to win you any favors. You inquired about what happened, you've had it explained, now drop it.

Two dozen occasions? Ok your system then.

I don't know what goes on at my friend's houses but I don't think you should punish everyone that was kicked for it.

I believe Vince-Topia and Lunatics at Calm are innocent as they have never stepped foot in my house. Just curious what else you can track us with, as I can't think of a reason these two (or any of us) have accidenly broken rules another way.

I'm almost tempted to take pictures of us infront of the computer screen...

Thank you for checking but this is the only thread ive made on the subject, I dont know where you get three or four from. I don't believe im whining but I'm firmly stating my position on the matter.

Agreed that this IS free, and thank you for the time playing it, but if you're shooting for customer service I think you're being over-zealous. I understand you have better things to do then listen to me fight over this, I help run a website and a tournament myself I know how this kind of thing can be, but if I firmly believe something is wrong in the world I'm going to stand up against it, its how I was raised and one of the key aspects of america (sorry if you're not from the US but protesting is how to get things done).

I appreciate your time hearing me out, when I reconsider this is a truely great game which I would not wish to leave (although this whole thing has gotten me fairly pissed off). I thought this was a whole misunderstanding at first, but now I see even if the innocent accidently do something wrong you'll enforce it, and you're right the rules should be enforced, just in this case I don't believe its the right thing to do. You've taken a great aspect of the game away from me but thats life.

So in conclusion sorry for wasting your time and thanks for reviewing it multiple times and for explaining to me in detail why this all happened.
