Mod Chatting 101

this post by kat has me concerned...
This is not a conversation forum. If you don't have a problem you need us to look at, please stop.
so, my question is this, since most of the mods are in the Roleplay section, how can we "chat" with you... since doing so in Roleplay can, and probably will, be considered Hijacking... and most of the Mods don't participate in General, if we just wanna chat with the mods, where would it go?
I mean, I posted my share of "Yay Mods" and "Historical queries" type threads here, and some of the mods seemed to appreciate the break from "Problem with..." stuff that usually gets posted here. If you do find such... well, for lack of a better word, fluff, irritating, I am sorry for those I did post. :(

Mods are going to chat as players, not as mods. When we're wearing The Hat of Modly Doom and/or carrying the Sword of DEAT, we're working, not playing.
If we want to chat, we go to one of the other forums to do so. If you don't see us there, you can safely assume we're not in a chatty mood.

That said, I am usually in #nationstates_general when I'm feeling sociable.

Not everyone "chats". Life is full enough when you have a full-time job, active role-play threads, UN business and multis to nuke. Many Mods will simply not be reachable on an informal basis.
Some do chat, but not necessarily about the things in which you may be interested.

yep, seen you, Tac Grace, and some of the others there. and while I do know that all of the mods have puppets/non mod nations, it's just not the same talking with Katganistan about long cancelled shows, or even Tac Grace about the ebils of religion. :D
kinda like talking with the cops, even tho they are in uniform (and you know they have private lives) but just kicking back and treating the guys in uniform like everyday folk.

New moderator contracts are out this week. Youll need to commit to >225 and < 676 words per month that can be deemed chatty with a minimum of 3 players. ;)
Ive got a suspicious nature. If I see somebody posting specifically to moderators in the moderation forum about non moderation issues I start wondering and speculating why. I usually guess it is either eliteism, sucking up, or there person is one of those mod lovers who is about to pop up and brandish his fetish.
Mods only reply to the above please. You sexy powerful forum overlords you..

As you've probably seen from my answers here, I don't mind a little joke now and again, and it is nice to have someone appreciate rather than hurl invective.
However, the moderation forum is pretty much for business.
I don't think the people who post in moderation are sucking up, Not bad... most actually want to keep the forum fun. A few who post here when there is not a problem also talk to us in other media when the mod hats are not on.
That said, people are welcome to talk to me in the General Forum... and I don't bite.
Mostly.

I do agree with Kat on this. And really, I post in Moderation fairly regularly and I sure as hell ain't a suck-up. I have absolutely no problem mentioning that I have a problem with a Mod ruling or the way it was delievered, or even asking for a ruling to be overturned. I'm just not going to make that my entire interaction with them, because they are good folks and I respect them.
