Can a nationmaster use one or more puppets in a thread discussion? What limitations if any are there?

From what I can tell, if you use your main nation plus any ammount of puppet nations in an RP, it is considered bad RPing form (the term is puppetwanking) and i blieve that it is looked down upon by the RPing NS Community. If your talking about something else totally different than that then i have no clue if it is right or wrong and/or the limitations on it.

I think he was referring to thread discussions, not RP's. I'm pretty sure the same rules apply, i.e. that it's not exactly against the rules, but it'll piss off a lot of people if you're outed and make you seem lame.

Yup, that is exactly what I am talking about. I already exposed one a exposed a couple of lame "puppetwankers" :)

I thought there might be a rule against using a puppet to support a debate?

If there is no rule, one could technically talk to themselves in a thread.....I think it should be punishable.

Well, sometimes I just use two different nations to post in a debate because I'm using the one for a UN or RP post and don't feel like switching back to another account. There's nothing wrong with that. And sometimes people just forget that they're logged into a puppet when they post. I've noticed Hack doing those things before, incidentally. :D

So sometimes it's hard to tell if a person is just using a puppet for convenience or because they forget which account they're logged into rather than using a puppet maliciously.

Using a secret puppet to support yourself in a debate (ie: sockpuppeting) is definately frowned upon. Using a secret puppet to flame other people while "protecting" your main is a good way to get the puppet deleted and the main warned.

On the other hand, using a puppet to present alternative points of view during a debate and counter arguments made by the main nation can be useful. And puppets are always good for stalking the NS General forum after one claims to have left it forever.

..... Not like I'd do that kind of thing or anything. <.< >.>
